Contact Press Images is proud to have contributed two rare and impactful images of a woman giving birth in prison, while shackled, taken by a preeminent Contact documentary photographer, Jane Evelyn Atwood from her monumental "Too Much Time" project which documents women in prisons around the world. Hopefully this work, which hasn't been seen in America, will be getting some visibility in the States in the not too distant future. Stay tuned.

On May 11, 1981, Bob Marley, then 31 died after a 4-year battle with cancer.

He was the first musician to bring the music of the Jamaican Rastafri movement to the masses. The rest is history.

Little known news-based factoid: Bob's father was of Syrian Jewish descent.

This contact sheet from the nearly as famous David Burnett at home shooting at Tuff Gong with Bob in 1976, part of an iconic body of work David produced long before publicists could have sanitized it.
David later would travel with Bob on the Exodus tour where the first manifestation of his illness would emerge.

RIP Bob Marley.
