SAVE THE DATE! Seeing and Recognition: The Paintings of Lee Sherry opens Thursday, May 28th, 6-8 PM at our new location, 126 13th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215. Curated by David McDonough, Susan Bee, and Zak Vreeland. ☀️🕊️🩷🌿✨

Seeing and Recognition is the first survey show of the paintings of Lee Sherry (1947-2012). Lee was the daughter of founders of The Second City theater troupe. She had close ties to the Language poets and was part of an avant-garde painting circle in SoHo. Lee showed in the 1970s and 1980s but never gained wide recognition or fame. She left behind a mysterious and enigmatic body of work that is particular to her sensibility while channeling centuries of painting interests and special techniques. Rarely seen yet deeply resonant, Sherry’s singular practice feels at once ancient and strikingly fresh. This show introduces her elusive and poetic work to a new audience.

Our field is getting bigger. We are thrilled to announce Field of Play is moving to a new location at 126 13th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215. This move ushers in the next phase of the continued development of the gallery with a larger space and expanded programming. Here we will continue close collaboration with our friends and neighbors .bk. We look forward to welcoming you to our inaugural exhibition at our new location– Seeing and Recognition: The Paintings of Lee Sherry, opening Thursday, May 28th, 6-8pm.

Field of Play is excited to welcome Heather Drayzen as a new member curator with the gallery. Please join us in celebrating . Thrilled to have you on the team!

Heather Drayzen (b. 1985, San Antonio, TX) is a painter whose intimate, small-scale works depict quiet domestic scenes, often featuring herself and her loved ones. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Drayzen received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, and her MAT from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Her second solo exhibition, Towards the Sun, opened at My Pet Ram, New York, in October 2025, following her debut solo at the gallery. Her work has also been featured in two-person exhibitions at My Pet Ram, The Middle Room Gallery (Los Angeles), and on PLATFORM. Her work has been presented in group exhibitions at Massey Klein Gallery (New York), EDJI Gallery (Brussels), Noon Projects (Los Angeles), Myriam Chair Galerie (Paris), and Pentimenti Gallery (Philadelphia), among others. Her works on paper were included in Trove, presented by Deanna Evans Projects.

Drayzen was awarded First Prize in the Prisma Art Prize, Rome. She has completed residencies at Hafnarborg, Iceland, and the Vermont Studio Center, and will participate in a residency at Jentel Artist Residency, Wyoming, in July 2026. Her work has been reviewed in Two Coats of Paint and she has been interviewed on Brainard Carey’s Yale Radio podcast and the Filling in the Blank series with Sam Blank. Her work is held in the Beth Rudin DeWoody Public Collection.

Terra Keck’s eraser drawings explore the nature of our world and consciousness through the metaphor of the UFO. Her background in occult magic shapes her to approach this metaphor, as does her conviction that our universe, at its core, is a benevolent and creative place. In erasing layers of graphite and watercolor, her reductive process centers around a pair of questions: when things in our world progress, what is left behind? What do negative spaces in our cosmic story reveal? Keck’s eraser drawings depict the environment and setting where metaphysical encounters can take place.

Field of Play is excited to welcome Wesley Ware as a new member curator with the gallery. Please join us in celebrating Wesley. Thrilled to have you on the team!

Wesley is a painter based in Brooklyn, NY. His watercolor works emerge from a mix of wet-on-wet painting and reactionary mark-making; these pair to draw attention to the natural fluidity of the medium. The paintings display colorful flowing abstractions that evoke natural elements such as leaves, ducks, and running water. Wesley was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He studied Painting at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
