I was honored to receive the 2026 Anchor Award from the University of Hartford along with 9 other incredible alumni. It was a wonderful experience to be amongst so many other talented members of my Hartford community. To the University, thank you. You create a space where people feel seen, where talent is nurtured, and where community comes first. That’s the same spirit I’ve tried to carry through my own work.

I was honored to participate in the recent panel discussion at moderated by Sally Morgan Lehman in conjunction with the current exhibition “Carpe Diem: Select Alumni in the Visual Arts.”

I really enjoyed the conversation and being able to offer my perspective to a younger generation. We talked about how art has to keep changing, our own and collectively.

Someone asked how I felt at the moment of graduation and what I thought my next move was. To tell you the truth, I thought I’d be famous. But that’s not what it’s about- it’s the process and the work that brings gratification, the reaching for the unknown.
