Inna Art Space is delighted to present artist Xinyi Liu‘s first solo exhibition in China, ”Raiment and Flesh.“ The exhibition will open on July 13, 2024, at 3 PM and will run until September 8, 2024.
Liu began a month-long residency at Inna Art Space’s Building 10 on June 10, where she initiated a series of new works reflecting her tactile explorations over recent years. These works focus on the fragility and restoration of the body, transforming sensations of wind, rain, and humidity into tangible forms.

For 1000 Suns (Curves), the sun collector is oriented at different angles to the sun while maintaining a fixed position. For 1000 Suns (Circles) it is mounted on a rotating mechanism with 24 steps and rotates around its own axis once an hour. The exposures result in 100 dots each: each dot shows a negative image of the sun. Over the course of the day, the suns in the pinhole camera multiply until they number in the thousands (6000 - 12’000 suns per sheet) and form dotted graphic structures.

Inna Art Space is excited to announce that we will collaborate with PIN3 Coffee to present artist Liao Wenfeng‘s solo project ’Not Flower, Nor Non-Flower‘ during the Beijing Art Week. This project will focus on approximately 30 small-scale paper paintings created by the artist after his solo exhibition at Inna Art Space in Hangzhou in 2023, and will run until June 30th.
’Not Flower, Nor Non-Flower‘ is a series composed of hundreds of paintings. Originating from the artist’s observation of orchids, these series often depict faces emerging around the column of the flower, creating an illusion. From the perspective of Darwin‘s theory of biological evolution, these face-like images have evolved in orchids to attract insects for cross-pollination, resulting in a co-evolutionary relationship between insects and orchids. The artist has collected and classified these ’faces‘ perceived in his paintings, with each artwork representing a specific ’portrait‘ of a flower.
The works presented in this solo project will continue to focus on the ’portraits‘ within the ’Not Flower, Nor Non-Flower‘ series. Through these small-sized paintings measuring 10 x 12.5 cm, the artist aims to bring viewers closer to the paintings, establishing a more intimate relationship between the viewer and these microcosmic images. By depicting orchids, the artist hopes to reveal the hidden connections between human perception and that of other species within an intertwined ecosystem, and how perception influences environmental shaping.

“As I immerse myself in the act of painting, I enter a transcendent state where freedom and concentration blend seamlessly with solitude and passion. Each creative endeavor necessitates nuanced adjustment of my state, channeling every ounce of my spiritual
and emotional being. Painting emerges from a deep-seated essence, with this essence blossoming in tandem with the artwork, thus enabling profound liberation of both
mind and spirit. On the canvas, a complex tapestry of points, lines, planes, and shapes unfolds within the spatial dimensions, creating a dynamic interplay where aggression
and deconstruction intersect, leading to an ongoing cycle of revision, refinement, and transformation. In the seemingly Sisyphean task of painting, a latent vitality accumulates, culminating in an explosive outpouring of energy. My artistic pursuit navigates the ephemeral and evolving synergy within the painting, transcending the limitations of form and convention, delving into, and conveying the depths of emotion from a core level. The nuances of each brushstroke, in its intensity and rhythm, alongside the interplay of light and shadow, resonate like a symphony, encapsulating the soul through artistic expression while evoking a sense of profound tranquility and depth. In this passionate odyssey of existence, I am in perpetual search of the quintessence of pure painting.”

During her stay, Wehrli will develop a series of new artworks inspired by the impressions and explorations of the local environment.
On May 17, her solo exhibition in China will open at Inna Art Space.
Inna Art Space is pleased to participate in the 2024, which runs from May 9th to May 12th at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.
We will present a solo project by artist , showcasing his large-scale abstract paintings titled “Untitled,“ created in his studio in New York, at booth DG03.
The expansive canvas is laden with layers of paint, swirling and heaping into indistinct forms. Vibrant splashes of orange-red and yellow scatter across the surface like flickering fireworks, while blues and blacks swirl together, evoking the deep sea or a nocturnal sky. The colors and shapes interact dynamically, sometimes seeming to burst forth towards the viewer, other times receding into the depths of the canvas. This interplay of forces—both pushing and pulling—generates a tactile friction between brush and canvas, forging the very life of the artwork in a complex dance of time and dimension.
A painting is typically seen as an object to be observed; however, when its scale exceeds the scale of human body, it transforms into a space where one can mentally and physically engage and wander. As attention dwells on a particular section of the vast canvas, the rest continues to evolve, seemingly still in creation. As the eye moves, each brushstroke conjures new interpretations, crafting unique emotional journeys with each viewing. The painting is a visual experience of narrative of power and tenderness, a testament to the historical and temporal romances that unfold with each shift of the viewer‘s gaze.

nna Art Space is pleased to announce the first solo exhibition of artist Ding Renyuan, "Flesh Color", will be displayed in Hangzhou from February 25th, 2023. The exhibition features his recent paintings, which blend the human body with sensual flows, creating symbolic images that play out strange dramas full of opposing energies of domination and submission. The artist translates the ubiquitous social dynamics of giving and taking, of action and reaction, into a series of allegorical images originated from individual sensory experience.

Peishan Huang's artistic practice spans multiple mediums including photography, moving image, sculpture, and installation. Her works delve into the interplay between physical and emotional landscapes, exploring the emotional resonance of objects and spaces. Peishan is particularly interested in the language of materials, patterns, natural rhythm, artificial objects, structure, pain, fountain, and surrealism.
Peishan's aesthetic vision is expressed through a masterful use of colors, textures, and poetic emotions, and the narratives she creates through them. Her works tackle complex contemporary issues and highlight the experiences of minority groups living in the urban landscape. Over the past two years, Peishan has delved deeper into exploring the relationship between urban systems and nature, inviting her audience to reflect on the impact of human activity on the environment. Through her works, Peishan challenges viewers to engage with her unique perspective and contemplate their own relationship to the world around them
