AMRM Gallery is pleased to present The Two Suns: As The World Runs Its Course - an exhibition of new work by U.S based artist Renelio Marin (b. 1964, Havana, Cuba) opening October 26th 6- 8 pm

Marin meditates on the inextricable links between the conscious man and the jungle, masculine and feminine, between the lightness and darkness of being. Marin's concrete awareness of this bipolarity inhabits the physical and psychological spaces of the paintings.
Marins enchanting large scale paintings are informed by art history, brutalist architecture, and the laws of The Jungle and The Garden. Working with a bold, vibrant color palette. Marin layers oil pastels and markers and builds texture with oil using a palette knife or directly from the tube to yield and confronting textures that excite and demand attention. Other works included in the show establish his mastery of brushwork and anatomical structure and ex*****on, the balance and beauty of neoclassical and Italian renaissance braided with his individual symbolism.

Renelio received a graduate degree from San Alejandro School of Fine Arts in Havana in 1993, a B.A in Studio Art from Hunter college in 2009 , and an M.A. in Media, Culture and Communication from New York University in 2011. Renelio lives and works in NYC.
Renelio’s work is in prominent personal and public collections internationally, including pieces in the Ruben foundation (New York), New Mexico Museum Of Art, and the Havana International Bank.

Article: Colonel David Richardson’s Gunplay by Anthony Haden-Guest - New York

“David Richardson has been equally motivated by war but very differently. A career officer in the Marine Corps, a colonel in Iraq, who has been until recently working for the administration on the oversight on weapons of mass destruction, Richardson has been a lifelong painter. His work in the show which opens on March 16th at the AMRM gallery on East 69th Street are abstractions, but his precisely considered use of such symbols as arrows, circles, Zeroes and Ones, loads them with meaning. But meaning just what?”

Hi! Glad to introduce another artists in our upcoming exhibition🎨

Juan Lazaro

Born in Manuel, Cuba in 1973, Juan Lazaro Gutierrez Mamblas is a painter who focuses his vision on the bicycle. His abstract works with forms floating on a virtually monochrome ground are evocative of the 20th century inventions of Paul Klee. It is the intriguing puzzle of these forms that draws the viewer into the works where enigmas and paradoxes confound the senses. Lazaro deconstructs the universal bicycle into colorful parts that splash out onto the viewer.

Hi! We would like to introduce one of the artists in our upcoming exhibition🎨

David Richardson

“Folks often ask what I paint. I usually skip right to why I paint, and I paint to help visualize the vital role myth plays in all our lives.”

David Richardson’s paintings reinforce myth as the universal blueprint we all live by. His work is a visual journal seen through the lens of Jungian archetypes, mythology, and symbols. Love, combat, religion, uncertainty, celebrity, and confusion at cultural fault lines inform Richardson’s work. Taught by his mother and brother, both artists, his medium ranges from oil and acrylic on canvas, to charcoal on paper, to buckshot applied to corrugated tin or plywood with a .12-gauge shotgun. From portraiture to abstraction, he reaches across art forms to express the pressure of the past and the vacuum of the future that myth captures. In work inspired by Homer, symbols garnered from his travels, and the emerging impact of Artificial Intelligence on mankind, Richardson claws at the unyielding and necessary grip myth still holds on a globalized and capitalized world.

“Time Traveler” and “Black Lips” are two of the newest pieces by They are a collection of mixed media figurative artworks that marries elements of mosaic art, stained glass, cubism, and art deco.

“Time Traveler” features a figure in a blue scarf traveling through a tunnel, cutting through a jumble of numbers and letters. If you look closely, the head of the figure is composed of cutouts of Spanish text. The paper is very weathered… as if the figure is from another century. He glances slightly to the side as if he is aware of the viewer in his time-traveling journey.

The focus of “Black Lips” is a woman with a 1920s flappers haircut who captivates the viewer with her sultry black lips. Geometric shards of arcylic with painted edges make up her forehead and eyes. Pieces of Spanish text make up her angular eyes. If the eyes are the windows to the soul… the viewer literally reads into her. The woman’s black turtleneck contrasts the textured white background, bringing the woman to the foreground, gazing at you.
