The passing of our NYC museum Executive Director, and Chief Executive Officer Margaret C. Tellalian-Kyrkostas—or just Marge to all— in February 2020 has deeply hurt all who knew her. Marge had the tenacity, wherewithal, courage and fortitude to push forward being the descendant of the Armenian Genocide Survivors It has led the way to the museums board of directors and meetings with the family; and, the serious discussions that have led to the museum successful path moving forward.
Today, we of the board of directors are pleased to announce that the museums executive board of directors members, along with the Kyrkostas family have met; and, nominated (he excepted), and unanimously confirmed board member and Marge’s assistant executive director George Zouvelos, as the Executive Director, and Chief Executive Office of THE ANTHROPOLOGY MUSEUM OF THE PEOPLE OF NEW YORK, https://www.nycservice.org/organizations/654 -and the ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOURCE CENTER, located at SUNY Queens College
May Marges memory be forever eternal, and this appointment of Mr. Zouvelos surely would make her happy, as it does all of us.
Mr. Zouvelos is past President of the Order of AHEPA Hermes Ch. 186 in Astoria New York, and is the chairman of the chapters Executive Board. He is now the elected AHEPA District 6 New York State District Warden. George, is the Executive Director, President and lead researcher of StandUp For Humanity, and Against Genocide, and Injustice organization StandUp Against Injustice Genocide. The organizations mission is to research and provide public awareness to encourage action against the perpetrators of crimes against individuals and humanity.
In 1990, George met Marge, of the Daughters of Penelope ILion Ch 135 Astoria through her husband, who is also deceased, both dear friends and mentors to George, Mr. Theodore ‘Ted’ Kyrkostas, Ted was the president of Hermes 186, and also past district New York State Governor for .
