His age is likely exaggerated, as census records indicate he was born in the 1830s;
The Late William Williams
William Williams, known to many as Bill Williams, died at his home, Oak Hill, last Friday. He was born in North Carolina in 1759, and had lived at Oak Hill since 1865.
A large family of sons and daughters survive him, among whom are F. L. Williams, Perry Williams, Mrs. Annie E. Williams, George W. Williams, Mrs. Mary L. Ross, Henry D. Williams, John E.. Williams, James W. Williams, and Wesley S. Williams. There are many grandchildren who are left also to mourn his death.
His parting words to his sons and daughters were that he had finished his work, and was ready to go to that home in the presence of his God. He asked them all to meet him there.
The funeral services were conducted at the home by the pastor of the Baptist Church, and largely attended by those who had known and respected him for years.
