Eddy County Museum

Eddy County Museum The Eddy County Museum is a beautiful three-building complex and grounds, including the Schoolhouse, Church, and Train Depot buildings.

Each is filled with historic furnishings and exhibits highlighting our region's past. Museum Hours: Every Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Docents are on-site during Museum hours for tours. Entry to the Museum and tours are free of charge. The Eddy County Museum is managed by the Eddy County Historical Society.

I could not find any information on Hazel Miller. I searched other Millers that lived in area in the 1930s and no one had a Hazel listed in their genealogy record. If anyone has any information, please let us know in the comments below.

Thelma Meade was born on March 29, 1918 to Harry Larue Mead and Carrie Aaland. She married Joseph W Vesley. I found record of two children, Karen and Carol. Thelma passed away on January 19, 1975, at the age of 56.

Andrew Knudson was born in January 20, 1917, in North Dakota to Albert Chris Knudson and Nellie Alvena Rockney. He was a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II. He married Ardyce Ione Thorstenson. They had 4 children, Lynda, Kim, Gary and David, who were born in Minot, North Dakota. Andrew passed away on November 11, 1997 in Glendive, Montana at the age of 80.

Agatha Cecilia Klocke was born on February 4, 1916, in Templeton, Iowa to Johann Wilhelm Klocke and Elizabeth Hoffman. She was raised on her parent’s farm near New Rockford, North Dakota. She attended and graduated from Central High School in New Rockford. After school she moved to Kenmare, North Dakota where she was employed at the Kenmare Laundry until her marriage to Frederick Luth on July 2, 1940. They had three sons, Douglas, David and Daniel, and one daughter, Beverly.
Agatha was a homemaker until 1953 when she and her husband moved their family from Mohall, North Dakota back to Kenmare and purchased a service station and restaurant. Agatha was kept busy as a restaurant and "Drive Inn" owner/operator for the next ten years until 1963 when she and her husband moved to Salem, Oregon. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking and traveling.
Agatha passed away on July 17, 2002, in Salem, Oregon, at the age of 86.

Katherine Elizabeth Jones was born on October 23, 1919, in New Rockford, North Dakota to Elwin Enoch Jones and Elisabeth Fredericka Laasch. She married Cecil Neville Stevens on January 30, 1947, in New Rockford, North Dakota. I could only find record of 1 daughter, Elizabeth, who passed away at birth. Katherine passed away on November 18, 1993, in Bismarck, North Dakota, at the age of 74.

Wylia Eileen Johnson was born on February 26, 1919, in New Rockford, North Dakota to Walter Johnson and Velma Delpha Longnecker. She married Harvey Dayton Treichler on August 16, 1938, in King, Washington. Her genealogy record showed they had one son, Thomas. Wylia passed away on January 14, 2000, in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 80.

Clifford Edward Jeske was born on August 22, 1917, in New Rockford, North Dakota to Edward Wilhelm Albert Jeske and Lydia Johanna Emilie Wille. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army during World War II. He married Marilyn Thole on July 28, 1953 in New Rockford and to this union six children were born, Debbie, Kay, Nancy, Jerry, Mark and Jim. Clifford passed away on May 16, 2001, at the age of 83, and was buried in Mandan, North Dakota. His grave marker has the inscription, “Loving Husband, Grandpa, Gardener, Tree Advocate”.

Irvin Leroy Iverson was born on February 15, 1918, in New Rockford, North Dakota to Gustav Severin Iverson and Margaret Carrie Heaton. He served as a Corporal in the US Army during World War II. He married Helen Josephine Rambur on August 29, 1942, in Sidney, Montana. They were the parents of Sandra, Cheryl, Donna, Maggie, Sarah and Nancy. Irvin passed away on December 24, 1973, in Minot, North Dakota, at the age of 55.

Ovie Azora (Hall) Miller, was born in Sheyenne, North Dakota, to Harold and Nellie (Moe) Hall. She attended and graduated from Central High School in New Rockford, North Dakota. She married Earle Lawrence Miller in New Rockford in 1937. They honeymooned by traveling to Oregon where they settled for life. Ovie was a loving wife and partner in the poultry business with Earle as well as a devoted mother to her four children, Barbara 'Bobby’, Shirley, Lloyd and Anita. Later, she worked as a switchboard operator for SP&S Railroad which became Burlington Northern Railroad which she retired from in 1981. After retirement, she was active in the Tigard United Methodist Church and the Tualatin Senior Center where she became an avid quilter for many years. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, traveling and attending Trail Blazer games.
Ovie, at the age of 95, peacefully passed away on September 8, 2014, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Evelyn M. Heringer was born on January 12, 1919, in Barlow, North Dakota to Emil John Heringer and Elizabeth Wick. She married George Samuel Rasmussen. George was a Corporal in the US Army during World War II. I could not find any records on any children they may have had. Her genealogy record states in 1950, at the age of 31, her occupation is listed as lumber yard - bookkeeper in Kitsap, Washington. Evelyn passed away on September 20, 2010, in King, Washington, at the age of 91. On her grave marker is the inscription “An innovative & strong lady” and she is listed on George’s grave marker with the inscription “A love that lasts forever”.
