Thomas Mann Studio Become a Fan to get the latest updates on Thomas Mann Design, Gallery I/O, and Studio Flux. I am NOT a jeweler.

Thomas Mann is a metal artist best know for his Techno.Romantic Jewelry Objects™. Originally from Pennsylvania, the artist exhibited his work at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 1977 and has called New Orleans home ever since.

“I describe myself as an artist working in the medium of jewelry. This is an important distinction because I made a conscientious decision in the late 70s not

to use precious gems or metals in my work. I wanted to experience a freedom of expression in the medium that I felt those materials would limit. That decision has made all of the difference and is the core issue in the development of my success as an artist. Our jewelry enterprise, Thomas Mann Design Inc., employs 14 people to make and market the work I design through our wholesale and retail businesses. Our retail gallery, Gallery I/O, celebrated its 20th year of operation in 2008. Our e-commerce website, www.thomasmann.com, has been in operation now for more than ten years. We exhibit my work at major art and craft show events across the country. I also teach hands-on and artist entrepreneur workshops. We developed the brand Thomas Mann studioFLUX™ for my teaching enterprise. With this brand, we are now reaching out to the home crafting industry offering do-it-yourself jewelry making kits and how-to videos and books. You’ll notice that I say ‘our’ and ‘we’ because the jewelry business is a group effort and our little group qualifies as an extended family. I couldn’t do it with out them, though sometimes I think they could do it without me! We encourage everyone on our team to have input in the design process. Even our apprentices may have an angle we haven’t thought of and in this economic environment when we’re basically surfing the economy, multi-tasking at a rapid rate and working twice as hard to make the same money, every idea could make the difference.”

✨🎨Art Lovers and Dog Lovers Unite!🎨✨

Join Take Paws Rescue and Thomas Robert Mann (Thomas Mann Studio) at Sullivan Art Gallery Adoption Event & Fundraiser for Take Paws Rescue!

As a precursor to Magazine Street's first Saturday After Hours Art Stroll, Sullivan Gallery will be hosting an adoption event from 1-3PM and donating proceeds from an important piece of art by Thomas Mann from his Storm Cycle exhibition, which will be on view through March 29th.

One of the very special fundraising pieces, titled "Wall Street", tells the story about the animal rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina and a dog the artist came to love as he was exploring the effects of the storm so much so that he became the artist’s muse. Come for a glass of wine and to take in some great art and maybe go home with new beloved pet or piece of art!

For Mardi Gras, and in celebration of Thomas Mann 20th Anniversary Storm Cycle Exhibition and ASSEMblogs Retrospective, Thomas Robert Mann has Sullivan Gallery at 3825 Magazine Street masquerading as a gutted Katrina house. If you're "in the box" this Friday or Saturday evening, stop in to the opening reception for a reflective pause and a Mardi Gras toast to that time when we almost didn't have Mardi Gras. It will make that wine all the sweeter!

Sadly, Thomas Robert Mann is in Biloxi, Mississippi removing ASSEMblogs from the magical Frank Gehry pods at Ohr O'Keefe Museum of Art. But do not dismay, he'll be back at Ohr O'Keefe Museum of Art mid-January for 2 jewelry making workshops. While the skills learned are being applied to the making of jewelry objects, these concepts can be applied to sculpture and mixed media art and beyond! Links to register can be found through the link below.

ANOTHER REASON TO DELIGHT! Work featured in ASSEMblogs will also be returning for exhibition in New Orleans at aocuneo.sullivan-gallery.com in February 2026.
