Historic BK House & Gardens The Historic BK House and Gardens is a historic house museum in the New Orleans French Quarter.

The Historic BK House and Gardens is a National Historic Landmark built in 1826 and restored to its present condition by renowned author Frances Parkinson Keyes beginning in 1948. An outstanding example of the raised cottage, it was designed by François Correjolles, who incorporated both Creole and American features in a well-detailed residence that remains largely in original condition. As the only example of its type open to the public, the museum offers a unique educational experience to visitors and furthers the understanding of New Orleans history.

Think of Quarter Kaleidoscope as a fascinating French Quarter-themed story slam – and you're invited!

The 10th in the series has a "Spooky Night" theme and takes place Wednesday, October 28th at 6pm, at Historic BK House and Gardens, 1113 Chartres Street – in their romantic courtyard!

You'll hear captivating tales from some of the Quarter's most interesting denizens: Hopkins, Catherine Whitney, Jen Ramos, Brandon Pellerin, David Roe and Deanna Dupont (not pictured).

Tickets are $10 for BK House and Vieux Carre Property Owners, Residents and Associates and $15 for non-members. Light refreshments will be served. Doors open at 5:30! Link to purchase advance tickets in comments!

Join us October 28 for another edition of Quarter Kaleidoscope, a live storytelling event presented by Historic BK House & Gardens in collaboration with VCPORA and French Quarter Journal.

This month’s theme, “A Spooky Night,” brings together residents, business owners, and longtime community members to share stories of the people, places, and traditions that make the Quarter a living treasure.

Our storytellers for the evening are Deanna Dupont, Jen Ramos, Andrew Lamar Hopkins, Brandon Pellerin, David Roe, and Catherine Whitney.

A heartfelt thank-you to all of the generous patrons and partners of BK’s Soirée in the Vieux Carré happening this Sunday, October 11 from 6 to 9 PM. Your support is helping Historic BK House & Gardens take an important next step in caring for this remarkable 200-year-old property.

Funds raised through the Soirée will support urgently needed restoration to the facades of the three historic dependency buildings that frame BK’s Courtyard Garden, which was restored by Frances Parkinson Keyes in 1947.

The project will address deteriorating doors, windows, shutters, weatherboards and soffits — including restoring eight casement and French door openings. Where possible, original materials will be repaired and retained, while historically accurate millwork will replace elements that can no longer be saved.

These repairs will help protect the buildings from water intrusion, wind, mold and extreme weather while ensuring that BK continues to meet the highest standards of historic preservation.

We’re adding some serious sparkle to BK’s Soirée in the Vieux Carré with a special raffle for a stunning 14-carat gold emerald and diamond drop pendant, generously donated by our French Quarter neighbor Joey DiFatta.

The pendant will be raffled as a special gift to patrons who register at the Hawthorne Level or higher.

Celebrate BK’s 200th birthday, enjoy an unforgettable evening — and enter for the chance to take home a little French Quarter treasure.
