Good Children Gallery is a collectively-organized artist-run space that aims to enhance the contemporary art landscape of New Orleans. We are a gateway gallery that offers exposure to emerging talent, and introduces established national and international artists to our community.

Good Children Gallery presents an exhibition that examines the aesthetic of protest, highlighting the passion and creativity born out of dissidence. Making beautiful protest works is always an act of care. These focused graphic and intellectually striking works were made for public spaces but linger in the mind, thereby functioning longer in culture. This particular showcase is heavy on the printmaking medium, demonstrating its power to amplify an individual voice above the noise of the contemporary landscape. Printmaking’s ability to disseminate Ideas is more than half a millennium old, and changed the world as we know it; almost as if it were the original internet.

When authority does not listen to the electorate, and politics become increasingly polarized, the protest space becomes the avenue where we communicate our displeasure with oppressive policies and the abuse of power. When democracy is under threat, protest is an escape mechanism; and protest art is its non-violent show of solidarity.

This survey of protest works is but a sample of works created by artists who are driven to speak up. Artists from London, Chicago, New Orleans, Rhode Island and Mexico utilizing woodcut, linocut, serigraphy, risograph, letterpress, lithography, and inkjet digital prints.

Their concerns reflect the zeitgeist in the contemporary battleground of discourse: The Art of Protest!

Good Children Gallery is pleased to present Everything Is Unreal, It's Just a Glitch, a collaborative exhibition by visual artist Jess Bizer and sound artist Cristy Michel (she her sir).

Through projection, soundscapes and installation, the exhibition approaches the glitch as both disruption and portal, a moment where reality fractures, multiplies, and reforms.

Within this installation, identity is not performed but processed. The body becomes both source and residue translated through technological systems that compress, mediate, and reconstitute presence. The “glitch” is not treated as error, but as a point of exposure: a moment where the structure of the system reveals itself, and where the instability of perception becomes perceptible.

As the first iteration of a larger project, this work establishes the conceptual and material language that will expand into future performances, films, and distributed media, each extending the central question of what it means to exist as a signal within systems designed to capture, render, and control.

Good Children Gallery is pleased to present finite body, infinite field, an exhibition showcasing the sculptures, paintings, and photographic works by artists Brooke Cassady, Rachel Jones Deris, and Ariya Aladjem Wolf.

This exhibition celebrates the female form in its various states of power, fragility, temporality, and persistence.

There will be an activation of the gallery space, and our bodies, as containers at the opening on May 9th at 7pm.

Good Children Gallery is excited to present new paintings by Madeleine Kelly and Paige DeVries.

Their exhibition, KINDRED brings together these works, showcasing the two artists’ shared appreciation for the quiet beauty of often overlooked subjects. DeVries’ paintings draw inspiration from figurative statues, emphasizing their idealized expressions while evoking a subtle sense of the uncanny. Kelly turns to plants and animals, creating atmospheric, immersive scenes that feel animated and intimate. Good Children Gallery is proud to present Fuss & Feathers, new work by Maddie Stratton. Open now through March 8.

Love is in the air, as are the smells of delectable treats and champagne. In the darkness outside, wild eyes reflect the gleaming light of the event hall. When the guests leave, the dumpsters, overflowing with shiny delicious trash, will inevitably be left to these spectators—but this time, they won’t want to wait.

Did someone leave a door cracked? Was that the sound of a breaking window?

Unseen and unheard by the raucous, dancing wedding guests, a passageway has somehow emerged for these furry and feathered intruders. Birds, raccoons, and squirrels saunter about, nibbling on hor d'oeuvres, tasting the decorations, and taking what they can get.

The animals don’t understand the need for all the fuss and feathers; it is a frenzy, over the top, literal feathers and lots of fuss. Still, why not partake? Don’t the animals deserve a little fun too?

It will certainly be a night to remember.
