Founded by philanthropists Edith and Edgar Stern, Longue Vue House and Gardens is a multifaceted historic estate featuring a world-class house museum and eight acres of stunning gardens that include an unparalleled collection of Louisiana irises in New Orleans and an interactive Discovery Garden for children of all ages. As a National Historic Landmark that serves as one of New Orleans’ premier education and cultural resources, Longue Vue is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, and the first Sunday of every month to the public for tours of the home and gardens, special events and programs.

Years of research on Fearless Philanthropy: Edith Rosenwald Stern's Campaigns to Transform Lives in New Orleans included long days in the Longue Vue archive. Our holdings contain hundreds of primary documents, including correspondence between Edith and her friends, family, and collaborators.
