President Franklin Delano Roosevelt passed away at his favorite retreat, the “Little White House,” near Warm Springs, Georgia, on April 12, 1945, after suffering a massive stroke just before lunchtime. His sudden death removed the only president that younger Americans ever knew. Elected in 1932 and inaugurated in March 1933, he loomed over Washington and the country for more than a decade. Older Americans remembered him as a familiar voice on their radios as he reported to them his administration’s efforts to help them survive the Great Depression. The country’s experience during World War II brought him closer to them as they saw him meeting with foreign leaders, planning with military figures, and leading the country through the trials of wartime with a steady hand. Think you can Beat the Tiger? Prove it.

Members of the LSU men's and women's golf teams will be on the course at the 2nd Annual Swing for the Guard, taking on your best swing for charity.

The rest of the day holds up its end: a $10,000 Mercedes-Benz of Baton Rouge hole-in-one shot on Hole 16, lunch hot off the grill from Blaze Grills, cool Cane's lemonade and tea on the course, prizes, contests, and player swag.

Teams of 4 are $900. Individuals $250.

Veterans, Active Military & First Responders play for $150. That discount is our thank-you to the people this whole day honors.

One of the exhibits in the Louisiana Maneuvers and Military Museum that seldom fails to catch the attention of visitors includes two radically oversized weapons displayed atop a World War II artifacts case. Members of school field trip tours are especially impressed with guns that would be taller than most of them if stood on their stocks. We explain that the weapons were not manufactured to fire bullets, but they were intended to help the Army train its soldiers. 🔫
