An ordinance. A namesake. A lasting legacy.
In 1897, Sidney Story introduced the ordinance that would give rise to Storyville—and lend his name to one of New Orleans’ most infamous districts.
Only 20 years after its closure in 1917, almost every single building and structure was demolished. But the stories of its residents, musicians, and businesses remain woven into the city’s history.
Now you can experience this salacious piece of New Orleans’ culture at night as we introduce our new After Dark program and extend our hours from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Cheers to the people who make New Orleans hospitality unforgettable! ⚜️

Yesterday, we teamed up with the Mardi Gras Museum of Costumes and Culture to host our annual Service and Hospitality Luncheon. Industry workers explored the Storyville Museum, connected with community members, and learned about our referral program.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! We love sharing our museum with you and showing some appreciation for all you do for our city. 💜💚💛

A remarkable and rare piece of history has arrived at the Storyville Museum for our Louisiana Purchase exhibit.

Our newest acquisition is an original 1833 bronze death mask of Napoleon Bonaparte—one of only nine believed to survive today.

Other examples are held by major institutions such as the Louvre, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Cabildo.

Now on display at the Storyville Museum in the French Quarter.

Special thanks to MS Rau for sourcing this for us.
