“Moonrise” by Ben Depp, archival pigment print mounted on dibond, 41.5 x 31.5 in., #7 of 10, signed, titled, numbered, & dated on back.
Note: In this image, Depp captures a vibrant “Moonrise” over Lake Pontchartrain. “Lake” is a misnomer for this body of water as it actually serves as an estuary connected to the Gulf. It also serves as a northern boundary to the city of New Orleans and provides a source of recreation for locals as well as a home to a number of fish & wildlife. Flying above the Lake’s surface, Depp was able to capture a rare moment of stillness in an otherwise very active body of water.
Depp is an artist and National Geographic Explorer based in New Orleans. For over a decade, he has been flying on a powered paraglider, camera in tow, to capture the beauty and complexity of the environment both throughout Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast. Depp is the recipient of the Documentary Photographer of the Year Award from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (2024) and the Cohn | Greater New Orleans Foundation Arts Award (2026). He has exhibited his work at the Historic New Orleans Collection, the Louisiana State Museum, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Pensacola Museum of Art, and the Walter Anderson Museum of Art.
We are honored to share Depp’s talent. This photograph is also available as 1) 30 x 22.5 in., image size, Ed. of 10 and 2) 56 x 42 in., image size, Ed. of 5. For inquiries about this work or others by Depp, please, DM or email us.
