Some large tintypes of Zilpha Robbins Hibbard 1802-1884 and her husband Marvin Hibbard 1797-1879 that were recently donated to the museum. They lived in Fitchville and were buried in the cemetery there.

A collection of Miss Ruth Hibbard's classes from 1939 Fitchville and 1940 to 1945 New London was recently donated to the museum. I think this one said 1942 on it.

The Society has lost a long time member Mr. Dean Bailey. He would bring many stories to the meetings. His laugh was the best when he told about some characters we had in town years ago. He has been truly missed over the last year at the meetings when his health kept him from attending. Hugs and prayers to Yvonne and the Bailey family as these days move forward.

If you now stand at Mickey Mart on North Main Street and look westward, this was the view in 1937. The Marriott Hotel (A.U. White) home from last week's post is hidden in the trees, then the boxcar on the NYC tracks, then the ACY depot (moved to park), then the ACY tracks (just before the start of the bike path), next Weekley's Elevator, with what I believe is Burk's mill behind it (tall building). The town changes with time.

This is a nice old view of the A.U. White home on West Main Street that was hidden in a notebook at the museum. Some may remember it as the Marriott Hotel. It was torn down to make way for the old Firelands Electric offices at the corner just past McDonalds. This home was a lot larger than I remember.

It's the third Sunday of the month already, and the New London Area Historical Society will meet at the museum at 1:30 PM. We will work on our photographs of people that are filed by surname and will also talk about what our plans are for the coming year.
