Dover Museum Dover Museum The Dover Historical Society was established in 1995 following the gift of the former glove factory-creamery building for a museum.

The Society uses the building to provide for the recognition and preservation of historical artifacts of New London and the surrounding areas. Displays include items used in the home, on the farm, in churches and former businesses of our area. The "Brick Room" library has significant historical records of Henry County. Volunteers provide help to many visitors with their family genealogy searches, demonstrate skills and crafts used by settlers to school groups and offer meals to School Reunion and other social events.

NOTE: The museum opens at 1 PM which is a great opportunity to view a wonderful Dover Museum display of Native American artifacts prior to the presentation.

A TRIP TO SHOKOKON

We share the same sense of place with those who came before us.

Shokokon is now known as Burlington, Iowa. It was an important area for Native Americans to obtain flint, camp, and to hold council. Find out about the various trails that lead into Shokokon and how the native people took advantage of natural features with for their trails.

Come and experience a presentation by Russ Fry about these Native American trails, one of which was near New London.
