Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us also take a moment to reflect on those who gave everything in service to our nation.

From all of us at the Warbirds of Glory Museum, thank you to all who served and to those who never came home.

As we get ready for Mid-Atlantic WWII Weekend, we will be bringing some really cool displays. Today we finished the replica Columbia G-519 bicycle for our students to ride. We now have both the original and the replica bicycle on display, showing the differences between early and late war production. Stop by and check them out!

After years of hard work, our WWII Clarktor Tug is now fully up and running! Just a few final touches remain before she is completely finished.

This restoration would not have been possible without the countless hours put in by our dedicated volunteers. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this historic piece of WWII ground support equipment back to life and preserve it for future generations.

Today our students were hard at work fabricating new brackets used to attach the stringers to the rib structure on Sandbar Mitchell. Every part made is another step forward in bringing this historic B-25 back to life.

We have accepted another large donation of surplus WWII aircraft hardware and rivets that have been in storage since WWII. Most of this incredible inventory originated from the historic Willow Run Bomber Plant and Fisher Body.

A huge thank you goes out to Factory Steel for helping make this donation possible and for their continued support of our restoration and preservation efforts.

Factory Steel is a family owned and operated business serving Metro Detroit, the United States, Canada, and customers abroad since 1946. They are proudly ISO 9001:2008 certified and provide personal attention to every customer, handling everything from small orders to large industrial needs with no minimum limitations. Their 50,000 square foot warehouse stocks 4130 steel, aluminum, brass, copper, steel, and stainless materials including tubing, sheet, plate, bar, angle, and extrusions. They are also one of the largest in-stock suppliers of aircraft-quality 4130 tubing, sheet, plate, and bar, along with aircraft-quality Type-304 stainless steel tubing.

Support from companies like Factory Steel help keep our project moving forward while preserving the history and craftsmanship of the Greatest Generation.

Thanks to the help of Sean C, we have acquired an almost complete WWII M5 Bomb Trailer.

After the war, this trailer was sold as surplus, the bomb racks were removed, and it spent years hauling logs on a family farm. It is always interesting to see how these pieces of history were repurposed in everyday life.

This is a great addition to our museum collection and will also be used in parades behind our WWII Clarktor 6 tug.

Its always an adventure sourcing B-25 parts for Sandbar Mitchell. One of the items becoming harder to find is oil coolers. The three units we had collected were sent out for overhaul, generously donated by Pacific Oil Coolers. Unfortunately, only one of the three was serviceable.

We need four total for the Mitchell. With some great help, we were able to locate two in Canada that were NOS, still in their original RCAF storage boxes. Now the search continues for one more.

More of the internal structure is now riveted together with our students hard at work, while we wait on the hat channels for the floor section. Due to their length, these can’t be bent in house.
