After 15 years, with something of a heavy heart, Ricky Godinez and Paul Murphy of Sidetracks Art Gallery wish to inform our Resident Gallery Artists, the Arts community of New Hope-Lambertville and our larger national community of artists and art patrons that we will be closing our doors on November 1, 2020. While we have certainly been influenced by the events of this Pandemic year, we also need to acknowledge the current state of business for retail art galleries everywhere and our own personal need to retire from business overall.
We have nothing but praise for the Scannapieco family from whom we first leased the 2A Stockton premises in 2005 (for one year, only 6 months guaranteed because of imminent repairs), for Robin Larsen the founder of New Hope Arts and the inspiration for us all, for Carol Cruickshanks her successor and for all those who have served on the New Hope Arts Board over these many years, particularly Richard Hirschfield, Larry Keller and Bill Scandone.
We believe we have played a part in continuing the long artistic traditions of New Hope, and have enjoyed featuring the works of many contemporary artists not previously known locally. And, of course, we couldn’t be prouder of the 12 years of Naked in New Hope open submission exhibitions, in which we presented almost 500 individual artists, many of them more than once. It has been an honor and something of a privilege.
We will remain open on October weekend afternoons (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
