Even in the rain we had a fun day seeing all the Dawgs stop by for the competition. Special thanks to our sponsors Grateful Dead chicks Our judges had a “high time” meeting everyone and it was one strange trip. (All photos used were submitted by owners)

first Place goes to Spots. He’s a 6 year old Dalmatian who has been rolling with some dancing bears.

Best Dead Dog goes to Leroy. Jammin like Jerry Garcia was his theme. He’s a 4 year old Doberman Pincher who claims this is his third life and he has always played the Grateful Dead in every life. He wishes the world peace and continual vigilance on protecting democracy.

Best Hippie Chick goes to Scarlet B. Her and her Scarlet Begonias took the judges hearts. She is a two year old King Charles Spaniel with love for the whole world.

Thank you to the more than 15 dogs who weathered the storm to stop in. I hear next year we will have TV coverage. Ssshhh 😉

Arete Gallery’s mission is to showcase the stories and works of artists devoted to healing humanity—and today, we pause with grateful hearts.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Doug Field Those of you who may not know, Doug was a beloved artist of the Grateful Dead Back in the days when we eagerly awaited tickets arriving through the U.S. Mail, it was Doug’s artwork that greeted us first—an envelope transformed into an experience, a piece of art before the music even began.

His work found its way into Grateful Dead books, People Magazine, and countless other publications, leaving an imprint on generations of fans and collectors alike.

As we reflect on his life, we’re reminded “what a long, strange trip it’s been.” And now, as he “rises up to paradise,” we honor the beauty he gave this world, the creativity he shared, and the joy he helped deliver to so many.

We are grateful. We remember. We celebrate. ☮️ ❤️
