Mid Mon Valley Model Railroad Club

Mid Mon Valley Model Railroad Club Model railroad depicting the Mid Mon Valley in the 1950's

Hours:7:00PM-10:00PM on Fridays. Busines The Mid-Mon Valley Model Railroad Club was founded in 1986.

It is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Monongahela Valley Railroad Historical Society. The club's purpose is to build and display an HO scale layout representative of the Mid-Mon Valley area. We provide fun, fellowship and the exchange of ideas and model railroading information among our members. The club is a 100% National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) club. Activities of the clu

b include building and operating an HO scale layout to depict the Mid-Mon Valley and some of the more important industries throughout history. The club layout is controlled by DCC (Digital Command Control). This control system allows us to control each locomotive separately and move in different directions. These functions are enabled by a computer chip installed in the locomotive, which decodes the instructions sent from the command station. This system increases the interest and possibilities in running the layout. We are also conducting operating sessions among club members- where we run the layout as a real railroad. We also exhibit the members' HO scale modular layout at local functions. Our members come with a wide range of skills and abilities from novices to advanced modelers. We are always willing to share with others and learn from others as well. Interested individuals are invited to attend our meetings and consider joining our club. We accept adult members (18 and over), and junior members (10-18 with an adult sponsor willing to join the club, usually a parent or guardian). Come by on a Friday night and hang out with us, you won't regret it!

And with that, our *extended* holiday season has wrapped up.

I want to thank every dealer who was a part of our train show today. We couldn't do this show without you. I want to thank the Pittsburgh Independent Hi-Railers and the NMRA division 2 T Trak group for their excellent display layouts that showed these models in action. Next, I want to thank the Kitchen staff for providing DELICIOUS and generous portion meals today- one od the best Kitchen staffs in the Monongahela Valley if not all of south Western Pennsylvania. The club members also deserve a huge thank you for taking time out to set up the tables, to check the vendors in, to keep order, etc. Without the club members, this show would not happen. I also want to say thank you to the New Eagle VFD for partnering with us and allowing us to use the social hall.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who came to the train show today. You are the reason We keep putting these on every year. I hope you all enjoyed it- whether you bought items, came to see the displays, and/or catching up with old friends.
