On Friday, May 22nd, come join us at the Cultural Arts Center for the Opening Reception of our next exhibition: REDEMPTION, featuring the works of artist Jaylin Stewart!

Jaylin is a nationally acclaimed visual artist, founder, and cultural storyteller whose work spans over 30 murals across the United States. Speaking on her work, she says “REDEMPTION is my first solo exhibition—an immersive body of work that reflects the public spaces I have grown up in and fellowshipped within. I’ve taken these environments—ones not often seen inside of institutions or what some call “white-walled” spaces—and brought them into the gallery. This work is my childhood, my life, and the woman I am becoming.”

We hope you’ll come celebrate and explore Jaylin’s work at the Opening Reception for REDEMPTION from 5-8 PM on the 22nd. REDEMPTION will be on display through October 17th, 2026. The Floyd County Carnegie Library is located at 201 East Spring Street, New Albany IN.

We have a winner! This lucky patron of our Earth Day Extravaganza guessed we had a total of 1,001 lighters in our display- just 23 off from our total of 1,024! Though sourced from the Ohio River, these discarded lighters were thankfully removed from the local ecosystem by our own artist and educator Albertus Gorman. Al is no stranger to reclaiming man-made materials from the environment: for years he's turned thrown away objects into unique art pieces, like the miniature styrofoam man our lucky patron got to take home as their prize!
Thanks to all who joined us as we celebrated our planet a few weeks ago, be sure to follow us for more creative events and activities!
