🍇 What a wonderful Taste of History! 🍷

Thank you to everyone who joined us Saturday at Willowbridge Vineyard & Winery! Guests toured the vineyard, learned how grapes become w**e, and enjoyed a little local history along the way.

Board member Justin Carnahan shared the fascinating story of Hermann Jaeger, a local transplant whose work helped save the w**e industry during the phylloxera crisis of the 1870s, followed by his mysterious disappearance years later.

During World War II, our quiet town of Neosho became part of something much bigger.

Camp Crowder transformed southwest Missouri into a major training center for the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where thousands of soldiers prepared for service during one of the most pivotal moments in world history.

From muddy training grounds and radio classrooms to POW camps and wartime sacrifices, the story of Camp Crowder is deeply woven into the history of our community.

We had a great turn out at the Intro to Metal Detecting class 🪙 where visitors learned about

✴️ ethics in detecting
✴️ equipment settings
✴️ meeting fellow enthusiasts

Followed by a seeded hunt and hotdog social. 🌭

Today marks a big anniversary in the history of Neosho and all of Newton County. Almost everyone who grew up here has some connection to Spacetown, USA through Rocketdyne, Teledyne, Eagle-Picher or any one of the many local subcontractors and small businesses who had a direct connection to this incredible effort.
