A sweet glimpse into the McKittrick family history at Elms Court. 🤍

Pictured are sisters Grace McKittrick, mother of Elms Court’s current owners, and her older sister, Catharine “Trix” McKittrick, later Mrs. McRae. Though Grace was the younger of the two, she was indeed the taller!

This charming portrait was taken right here in Natchez at the Norman Studio, whose name can still be seen embossed on the original photograph cover.

We treasure photographs like this - not only for the faces they preserve, but for the stories, relationships, and generations that make up the history of Elms Court.

A Legacy Built to Last. 🤎

One of Elms Court’s most remarkable features is the collection of original structures that still stand proudly on the property. Among them is this magnificent brick barn, where the estate’s original horse-drawn carriages and saddles are carefully preserved - offering a glimpse into the daily life of a grand Southern estate.

Every brick, beam, and carriage tells a story, making history feel beautifully alive at Elms Court. 🌿

A fresh chapter for one of Natchez’s most beloved homes. 🩷

Our new wallpaper has found its perfect complement with the return of the furnishings, artwork, and treasured décor that make Elms Court feel so timeless. Every room tells a story, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to experience it in person.

Your next opportunity to tour Elms Court will be during Spring Pilgrimage 2027. Until then, we’ll be sharing little glimpses of what’s waiting behind these historic doors.

Summer has arrived and the temperatures have certainly risen, but we’re still daydreaming about the beauty of spring at Elms Court🌸

From the azaleas in full bloom to the sunlight filtering through the trees, scenes like this remind us why every season at Elms Court is special. While the gardens have changed with the season, the timeless charm of this historic estate remains as beautiful as ever.

One of the most talked-about features of Elms Court is our graceful curved staircase…. but look a little closer and you’ll discover a hidden piece of craftsmanship. During renovations, we chose to leave a portion of the underside exposed, revealing the original hand-built framework and intricate joinery that has supported these stairs for generations.

It’s a rare glimpse into the skill and artistry that often remains hidden behind the walls of historic homes.

Reading the Room at Historic Auburn Mansion 📖

Join us Thursday, April 30 at 5:30 PM as the Natchez community gathers to kick off the 2026 Natchez Reads initiative. We are honored to have the Mississippi Humanities Council as a sponsor for this special evening celebrating literature, history, and connection.

While the MacNeil family of Elms Court has no direct ties to Levi Weeks, there is a distant connection to the Duncan family. History tells us that the Duncan family and Ayres Merrill’s family departed Natchez together in September 1863 aboard a Union gunboat, later living across Washington Square from one another in New York - a reminder of how stories and lives intertwine across time.

Elms Court is proud to support the second annual Natchez Reads project and the continued celebration of Mississippi’s rich literary heritage. We hope to see you there for an evening honoring the written word and the community it brings together.
