Channel To Channel is a contemporary art gallery presenting bold, progressive work by local and regional artists as well as weekly open-studio figure model drawing sessions. It is dedicated to providing the growing Nashville Visual Arts culture with experimental, challenging, and bold two-dimensional works of art from artists around the region.

SUNDOG 23 is an acrylic on panel painting belonging to a series inspired by the meteorological phenomenon of Sundogs (parhelia), occurrences of bright spots straddling the Sun in a 22° halo. The painting consists of triangular and quadrilateral forms in contrasting and complementary colors. The use of green and red hues brings to mind the earthy colors of spring, which reflects the project’s strong inspiration by nature. The form’s symmetry is slightly shifted, creating an optical illusion of dynamism and imitating the vibrant light of a Sundog.

PRIME NUMBER SIEVE 576

This ink and pencil on paper by Brianna Bass is one of her recent renditions in the Prime Number Sieve series.
While at first glance resembling a simple patchwork quilt, the piece is actually depicting the mathematical algorithm for finding prime numbers. In a prime sieve, all the integers (positive natural numbers) are collected in a list, from which the composite (divisible by a number other than 1) numbers are progressively removed, highlighting the primes. By applying and translating mathematics into a visual field, the artist gradually colors the boxes with composite numbers, and creates a pattern of white boxes with prime numbers.

PRIME NUMBER SIEVE 576 is a square of 24 cells, with 576 numbers on it. Despite the small size of the piece, it is the largest numerical sieve in the series.
