threesquared www.threesquaredgallery.com In 2008, Dane Carder began exhibiting works within his studio space, which is where threesquared still resides.

Located in the historic Chestnut Square building, threesquared is a contemporary art space dedicated to showcasing artwork that exemplifies the highest standard of aesthetic and technical expertise. The gallery features artists working nationally and internationally in a variety of media including painting, photography, sculpture, and new media. Six exhibitions later, in 2011, Sara Estes was broug

ht on as gallery director and curator to turn the casual exhibition space into a dedicated gallery, hosting events and exhibits on a regular basis. The 100-year-old industrial building that houses the gallery, known to Nashvillians simply as "Chestnut Square", was once the site of May Hosiery Mill, a factory that provided socks to the American astronauts on Apollo 2 for their moon-landing 1969. The mill closed in the 1980's, and is now home to twelve artist studios and two contemporary art galleries.

Threesquared has three projects in the works, and this first day of Spring with a full solar eclipse and a new Supermoon seems an appropriate time to begin letting you know that threesquared is still not dead. Carry on.

Rebecca Drolen, who had an awesome show at threesquared earlier this year, is featured on the Huffington Post today! Congrats, girl! We're proud of you.

There is a very complex relationship between a woman and her hair. The protein filaments that sprout from our scalps somehow become emblematic of a woman's identity, as if vital secrets were wrapped in every strand. We spend valuable time and money p...

Critic's Pick in the Scene!

See you guys at the opening tonight. 6-9 pm.

"Her exhibit of new works that opens tonight at Threesquared is titled, appropriately, La Petite Mort, and shows how the Arkansas-based artist appropriates images from art history and deconstructs them, sort of like an update on David Salle’s erotic amalgams. Threesquared will also be open during the October gallery crawl, but tonight is the night to see the work without rushing through. Bring your own euphemism."

New watercolor series confronts the image of the body as a passive object of desire in both traditional representation and contemporary painting.
