Charles Burrus - Artist

Charles Burrus - Artist My current Exhibition is 'Fusing Mythological Icons with Mechanical Objects'. Artist reception will be Saturday, August 24 on a Saturday from 5-7 pm.

Philadelphia,The City of Brotherly Love, comes from the literal meaning of the city's name in Greek (Greek: Φιλαδέλφεια ([pʰilaˈdelpʰeːa], Modern Greek: [filaˈðelfia]) "brotherly love", compounded from philos (φίλος) "loving", and adelphos (ἀδελφός) "brother"). This show translates Greek mythology with our current technology as a city on the forefront of becoming more Earth conscious. Our city has

the one of the largest urban city parks in our nation rivaling that of Central park in NYC and also by encouraging cycling, solar powered trash receptacles and eventual citywide Wi-Fi access. Each piece of art will have a brief description of the accompanying Myth as well as infusing cogs and/or computer hardware. Private Showings are encouraged and I will be more than happy to open the studio after hours or on days it is normally closed.

Created this awesome piece of art. It has copper and gold leaf integrated in with encaustic wax as well as acrylic paint and it is absolutely amazing to view in person. The picture doesn't do it justice, but I am excited about this new venture. I'm always trying to push myself into new and challenging themes/venues/styles/concept.... so I am very excited about this concept. Granted this is only my first one in this endeavor, which generally is always has the best one. But, I am very excited about expanding into this nature and creativity.

Phase 3. This is after I have already used acrylic paint with paper and then glaze to seal and now I'm going to add another layer of encaustic on top of that. And then probably use some more straight cut paper on top of that. And then glaze it again, and then I will add another layer of encaustic is well as I could paint. It will look similar to this piece that I'm about to show you right now. But I'll still be different at the same time. But this is my current method.

Currently my recent show at Muse, the most powerful show I've done. Closing reception is Sunday the 26th from two till 5:00 PM. It would behoove my friends and family to show up at that time, because I want to work to walk off the walls so I won't have to deal with them later. They are very very powerful pieces and there is a hierarchal structure as to gifts, but I also want to donate some money to a local fund. I do need to I am way before and Phil abundance and the Mazzoni Center as well as various organizations on the mainline also. That either he'll or promote local artist. Please come, for light refreshments and plenty of champagne. I promise it'll be lots of fun, and if anyone wants to have a nighttime private showing with their girlfriends, or added whomever – there's no owners to buy anything. But it is so much fun to hang out in an art gallery at night time but just the mood lights and hang around and mingle with people and feel like were true Philadelphians/New Yorkers.

6'x4'--- I'm excited and have a plan. Funny that it's too big to fit inside the house. Oh wait-- the upstairs porch is covered. I should move it there.
Through my ART, I'm going to have multiple large canvases describing the theory (visually alone) of the Bog Bang theory, offset with dozens of my trees. Representing creationism-garden of Eden--(I'll post 4 paintings as a teaser....) everyone knows that (except for last show when I was very ill) I really like a thematic approach to my art shows. Not just paintings flowers and Tossing them on the wall Willy-Nilly. I save that for all the old ladies on the mainline with their hobbies and nothing else to do…
