The Muscatine Art Center is now accepting registrations for the Family Festival & Market and the Heartfelt & Handmade Ornament Competition. We invite artists, crafters, and craftspeople to participate by donating handmade ornaments, tabletop trees, wreaths, or other holiday creations. Donated items will be displayed at the Muscatine Art Center and sold during the event to raise funds in support of the Art Center's programs and activities.

Interested in participating? Complete the registration form below and submit it with your handmade items no later than November 4. Entries with missing or incomplete registration forms cannot be accepted.

Join us for the opening of Mark Stevenson - HYBRIDS.
Saturday September 12 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Meet the artist and view his exhibition. Mark received his BA from the University of Northern Iowa in 1977. Stevenson’s artwork has been exhibited both locally and nationally, having strong roots in Iowa.

Learn the Mexican folk art tradition of papel picado in which patterns are cut out of tissue paper. These bright and colorful banners adorn celebrations all over Mexico, including birthdays, holidays, weddings, and parties of all kinds. Registration required. Class size limited to 15 participants.

These beauties were delivered yesterday by the donor, Kristin McHugh Johnston. They will be available for purchase at the Heartfelt & Handmade Ornament Competition and Family Festival/ Vendor Market on December 5, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Watch for more previews through December and then stop down to buy your favorite.
The first table top tree is Baking Spirits Bright. The 4.5 ft tree is Holiday Gem, the last table top tree is Wedgewood Winter.

Are you between 7-14 years old? Would you like to participate in the Heartfelt & Handmade ornament Competition? We have you covered. Create your ornament for the competition at home or the Muscatine Art Center is also offering two ornament workshops for kids, October 24, from 1-4 PM and November 7, from 1-4 PM. You may keep your ornament you make at these workshops or enter it into the competition.

We can't wait to see how your creativity shows in those ornaments!

Introduce your children to the world of art with free art classes. Each class consists of a story and two art projects! Classes meet every third Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. for a bilingual offering in English and Spanish, Wednesdays from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:15 p.m. in English only.
