Welcome to the 2026 Celebrate 250 Art Sessions!
We are excited to announce that we will be having Art Sessions this year to help celebrate America 250! This is being made possible through a generous grant with the Kentucky Arts Council. All sessions will occur on Saturday mornings from 10 AM to 12 PM at the historic Thomas House in downtown Horse Cave.

These sessions will allow for participants to create works of art and explore different media and processes that celebrate art from Revolutionary times to the present. Participants should be able to complete the project in the scheduled time. Sessions will be limited to 20 participants. Sessions are suitable for ages 14 and up. You can signup for single sessions or multiple sessions on this form.

Each session will focus on different processes/skills linked to examples of art from the 1700’s forward:

March 14th - Drawing: Drawing portraits in profile. Viewing profiles depicted on Revolutionary War stamps.

March 28th - Illustration: Mixed media with ink and watercolor. Subject matter, the American

landscape/botanical.

April 4th - Graphic Design: Propaganda Poster Designs and the Art of Independence.

April 25th - Printmaking: Printed illustrations created prior to photography. Participants create two

types of prints using relief and etching processes.

May 9th - Illustration with a focus on the artwork of John James Audubon. Subject matter will be based on faun and flora.

May 30th - Painting: Pop Art and Peter Max. Abstract art on square canvases.

The Spring 2026 edition of the Hart County Historical Society Quarterly issue reflects both our enduring commitment to local history and the vibrant stories that continue to shape Hart County today.

From tributes to notable figures like Wendell H. Cherry and James Arlice Goff, Jr., to heartfelt recollections such as “Memories of My Uncle Ossie and Aunt Mary Fuqua,” this issue brings together voices and experiences that connect past and present. We also revisit significant moments in history, including the Selma to Montgomery March, and celebrate the Fourth Annual Roy A. Cann Award Banquet.

The museum has a copy waiting for you! Stop by or give us a shout and we will send a copy in the mail.
