On this rainy day, we are reflecting on the inspirational beauty that our featured floral designers and treasured friends brought into the museum for Art in Bloom one week ago. Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor Sursa Griner Wealth Management and all of the Benefactors and Friends who made the event possible and to Wasson Nursery and the Rinard Orchid Greenhouse - Ball State University for the additional floral decorations. We're already looking forward to the 2020 event and hope all of you are, too! 🙏💐🌿🌸🌹

Amber Mills from The Leaning Lily in Richmond tackled the difficult assignment of interpreting “Shiva as Bhairava” with color and confidence! The expansive scale, rich reds, and daring shapes stood up against the robust sculpture and reimagined the work with a new sense of movement and poise. Bear grass gave the arrangement a visual flow while anthurium, lilies, ginger flowers, and roses rooted this symbolic work in a wonderful and appropriately earthy way. Amazing!

Sharon Gubbs and Foister's Flowers & Gifts found unusual flowers and a creative way to bring our beloved “Elephant Helmet Mask” to life! The rich colors and intricately woven lily grass honored the craftsmanship of the playful mask and imagined a new sense of personality by using hypericum berries, Gerbera daisies, and blue delphinium. The sense of detail and contemplation of this artistic creation was truly special!

We still can’t get over this lush, gorgeous arrangement by Audrey Scott of Normandy Flower Shop, Inc.—it captured the religious symbolism and complex detail of our “Kitchen Still Life” with herbs, succulents, ornate vessels, lacy flowers—and a clever use of Lamb’s ear! The rich textures, colors, and aromas added endless depth to this incredible arrangement. So creative!

Our Silver Award winner Katie Conway mastered a rethinking of Baby’s Breath and brought color and motion to Carpeaux’s “Spring” in exhilarating and surprising ways! The joyful arrangement made a strong statement of growth and rebirth to compliment the beauty of the stark white bust. (And how appropriate that this owner of Stems Flower Truck was paired with this French artwork!) Perfect for celebrating springtime in our galleries—thank you, Katie!

Karmen Fletcher from Be Married in Fort Wayne is our Art in Bloom 2019 People’s Choice Award winner—and the judges' selection for Gold Award winner as well! Her modern design inspired by Hermann Dudley Murphy’s “Marigolds and Cosmos” incorporated an homage to the artist’s talent for carving frames and a string of pearls that spilled boldly beyond the work and onto the gallery floor. Her flair with textures came through with the branches, dahlias, and anemones juxtaposed with the smooth ceramic vase, necklace, and mirror. Thank you, Karmen!
