1st Day of Women's History Month: We Celebrate SHOSHANA JOHNSON

Shoshana Johnson answered the call and became the first Black female prisoner of war in American history. She was dragged through the streets of Nasiriyah by her braids. She was shot. Beaten. Captured. Held for 22 days. Overlooked by the media. Underrated by the system. Haunted by guilt and memory.

She came home because she promised her a two-year-old girl that she would. Shoshana Johnson kept her promise.

What a day and event🤩, thanks to State Rep. Haddock, Rep. Probst, and Rep. Madden for your presentation to our museum. This was truly a historical moment, and learning that this Resolution will line the walls of our State Capitol for generation after generation to see. We are honored.

Thanks to Brianna our Chief Operation Officer (CCO), and Tiki/Mrs D our Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) for all that you do.

Happy Veterans' Day to all our veterans near and far. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and our freedom.

The Museum will be celebrating the service of Women Veterans through the end of 2025, highlighting their stories and journey.

Today, the Women Veterans Museum highlights the service of Winifred Pantol Daly, who was in the first class of the WAVES in 1942. She is the mother of Teresa Daly and Annette Daly of Brodheadsville, PA, and Highland Mills, NY. We will be sharing her amazing stories, her scrapbook collection, and her memorabilia throughout the remainder of 2025.

We had an amazing evening at Desaki for Pocono Networking, connecting with local professionals and supporting the incredible mission of the Women Veterans Museum. A night filled with community, art, good food, and great conversation; we are always proud to be part of something that brings people together.

The museum is closed today in support of Sights for Hope Bike run.
