Sights and sounds from Crossroads ...

What great coverage of the Crossroads Exhibit by WDAM ... Charles Herrington and WDAM publicized the event from the setup day to the last open day. So many visitors commented that they heard about Crossroads on WDAM and decided to come tour.

Thanks Charles and WDAM for supporting Crossroads in Mount Olive!

An exhibit in Mount Olive focusing on life in small-town USA has closed to the public, after being on display for six week.

One year of anticipation...

Twenty weeks of planning....

Thirty-six days of visitors and tours...

But today, just like that, the days of the Crossroads Exhibit were over!

For the last six weeks a little piece of the Smithsonian Institute resided in Mount Olive in the form of the Crossroads Exhibit ... what an amazing event that allowed this town the opportunity to tell the story of our rural past.

This was a big event for this little town and we were honored to host it. The Exhibit was the talk of the town and garnered much media coverage both by television and through the print media.

From a baby in a stroller to an elderly man with a cane, many visitors came to the heart of Mount Olive to the Crossroads Exhibit. From local families to travelers from distant places, many came to take advantage of the opportunity to look back at our roots and witness the heritage that is woven into this town.

The exhibit gave us a once in a lifetime experience: it made us think ... it made us remember ... it made us learn ... it made us look forward! Even as the lights were turned out tonight and the exhibit closed, it was clear that these past six weeks have made us a better community that will move forward into a bright future

Thank you ...
To the Smithsonian Institute and the Mississippi Humanities Council for believing in Mount Olive and entrusting us with your exhibit
To the Mount Olive Volunteer Fire Department who provided the perfect venue for the event
To our sponsors who generously supported the event
To our many volunteers who served so diligently
To our Director who worked tirelessly to turn a dream into an awesome reality
To our visitors who joined us on this adventure

••••••• THANK YOU! •••••••

The Crossroads Exhibit is now a chapter in Mount Olive’s past. But we’re not closing the book ... we are just turning the page!
