With news of King Harald V of Norwayโs recent passing, we wanted to pay tribute to his memory by sharing this image from his October 1965 visit to Mount Horeb, when he was Crown Prince Harald. In this Lyle Johnson photograph, Crown Prince Harald, pictured on the left, is greeted by Sigvart Nygaard, J.B. Johnson, and Village President Curtis Witte whose back is to the camera. According to an October 7, 1965, article in the ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ต ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฃ ๐๐ข๐ช๐ญ, President Witte and his wife, along with members of the Village Board and Chamber of Commerce, formally welcomed him to Mount Horeb and presented him with a cufflink and tie clasp set. Crown Prince Harald gave a brief speech to residents before continuing to Little Norway for a tour as the guest of UW-Madison Professor Emeritus Ashor H. Hobson and his wife.
