We are beyond grateful to have welcomed so many guests at our 3 Wives Teas this summer!

Your enthusiasm about this event and the enthralling lives of our Crocker ladies assures us that this event, and others like it, will continue to be a hit here at The Crocker House.

The sun may not have been out, but the final 3 Wives Tea of 2026 was full of laughter, music, and history! ⛅

We’re so grateful to all of our guests today for joining our staff and three wives re-enactors in celebrating the history of Mt. Clemens and The Crocker House Museum. 🫖 We enjoyed tea, a wonderful selection of finger sandwiches and scones, live music, raffle baskets and more.

A type of artifact that the Crocker House Museum has in spades are quilts! In the Victorian era, industrialization and globalization pushed ordinary household objects -like the quilt- into the spotlight. In the 1880s, the idea of “fancywork” or ornately decorating household objects was everywhere: magazines and fabric manufacturers gave away quilting patterns and cigar and cigarette manufacturers put squares of silk in with packages of their products for men to give to their wives. These contributed to the adoption of “Crazy Quilts” or throw blankets that were a show piece for a woman’s embroidery and fancywork.

As seen on this quilt in the Crocker House’s downstairs bedroom, the Crazy Quilt uses all different kinds of fabric with varying colors, weights, and textures. Silk, brocades, cottons, flannels and velvets were used to create a visual and textural contrast. The maker could also use many different stitches to create pictures, letters, and numbers like the various children represented, the initials LG, and the year 1884. Three dimensional aspects could also be added like the red flower and strawberry as well as intricate embroidery like the flowers and butterfly. 🦋

Tickets for the 2026 Cemetery Walk are live!

Join the Macomb County Historical Society and the Crocker House Museum at Clinton Grove Cemetery for our annual Cemetery Walk! 👻

In alignment with the America250 celebrations, the Macomb County Historical Society is treating you to a journey through Mount Clemens' rich past. Walk amongst Clinton Grove's historic graves and hear the tales of love and loss and fortune and misery at the headstones of those who helped to build Mount Clemens. 💀

Historical re-enactors will guide you through stories from the 19th and 20th century while you traverse through the winding paths of the over 170 year old cemetery.🪦

After your journey with the spirits, continue the spooky celebrations with free cider and doughnuts while bidding on a terrifyingly delightful assortment of raffle baskets.

We were so disappointed to postpone the 3 Wives Garden Tea last month due to the weather, but we’re thrilled to announce that the event has been rescheduled to August 16th. To avoid any issues with extenuating circumstances, tea will be held inside where smoke won’t follow and air conditioning will keep you cool. ☀️

If you purchased tickets for the July 16th tea, you do not have to repurchase tickets! If you are able to make it to the rescheduled tea, just reach out to us via phone or email to RSVP. ☕

If you don’t have tickets but would like to join, a limited number are available and can be purchased through our website. Tickets for members are $35 and $40 for non-members.

Recently we were delighted to welcome Erica from Marquee Arts to the Crocker House Museum!

Erica stopped by to pick up a collection of vintage projectors and film reels that will help preserve and share the rich history of the historic The Michigan & State Theaters - Marquee Arts in Ann Arbor. She also enjoyed a tour of the Crocker House with our wonderful docent, Linda Paton.

There's something special about seeing pieces of history find a new home where they can continue to educate and inspire future generations. We're grateful these artifacts will become part of another Michigan treasure.

Marquee Arts is a Michigan-based nonprofit dedicated to preserving and programming historic theaters, including the iconic Michigan and State Theaters in Ann Arbor. Their commitment to keeping history, film, and the performing arts alive makes them a wonderful steward for these items.

Thank you, Erica, for visiting the Crocker House! We look forward to taking you up on your invitation to tour the Michigan Theater and museum soon—it sounds like the perfect Michigan road trip!
