A new community mural is going up at Lauzier Athletic Complex right now! Local youth are working with muralist Phil Seth (), to create a mural that shows Moses Lake pride. This new piece of public art will cut down on tagging in this location and become a landmark for visitors.
The public is invited to come out for the unveiling, Tuesday, June 23 at 5:30 p.m.

Happy Throwback Thursday history lovers! Does anyone remember when Spock, I mean Leonard Nimoy, played Fagin in the Big Bend Community College’s production of Oliver in 1974? Nimoy autograph a photograph for the Musical Director and Producer Wayne Freeman, “Logically / Lenord Nimoy.” I know I would have lined up to buy a ticket. Enjoy!

Happy Throwback Thursday history lovers! Here is a real photo postcard of Moses Lake’s Utah & Idaho sugar beet plant, c.a. 1950s. According to HistoryLink, the plant produced 2,000 tons of sugar per day when it opened in 1953 and continued to operate in Moses Lake until 1979. Enjoy!

WSDOT update!

I-90 Exit 174 Hansen Road Overpass

The Hansen Road overpass (MP 174) has been closed since January, and WSDOT is preparing to remove the bridge. Contractor N.A. Degerstrom is expected to begin demolition in early July, with construction of the new bridge starting immediately after.

WSDOT has also secured funding to replace the Adams Road (MP 154) and Hiawatha Road (MP 169) overpasses. Those projects are scheduled to begin in spring 2027, with the new bridges expected to open later that year.

Happy Throwback Thursday history lovers! Here is a napkin from 1964 with autographs from Lloyd Perryman, Pat Brady, Dale Warren, Roy Lanham, and Rusty Richards of The Sons of the Pioneers. According to Wikipedia, The Sons of Pioneers began in 1933 with Roy Rogers as a founding member. This napkin was a memento saved by Teri Jean Scott Heckly in the scrapbook she kept when she was the 1964 Columbia Basin Rodeo Queen. Enjoy!
