The Moses Lake Museum & Art Center, Moses Lake's cultural nucleus, located in the Moses Lake Civic Center. The museum is home to local historical exhibits, a fine art gallery, museum store and a giant Columbian Mammoth metal sculpture. Admission is free. Program schedule is available under Events, the calendar online at www.cityofml.com or at the museum front counter. New gallery shows open every 6-8 weeks as scheduled. Free Family Saturdays are the first Saturday of every month. Programs run from 12noon - 2pm, or as scheduled and until supplies are exhausted. The museum is closed most major holidays.

Happy Throwback Thursday history lovers! Here is Paul Guffin of Moses Lake’s graduation certificate for the first eight years of the Common School Course in Grant County presented in 1923. One of the signers of the certificate is Superintendent of Public Instruction Josephine Corliss Preston. According to HistoryLink, Josephine Corliss Preston was the first woman elected to Washington state government after the state’s women won the right to vote in 1910. She started teaching at 14 and by the end of her career Josephine Corliss Preston was known for improving the working and living conditions for public school teachers in our state. Enjoy!
