Things Found in the Files June 2, 2026. It is always exciting to open a file in the research library. While finishing up adding the Surnames to the RCHS BLOG https://renvillecountyhistory.com/surname-files-in-the-renville-county-historical-societys-research-library-updated-3-16-2026/, a project started back in March, I found these three booklets. They were located in the Ytterboe file (spelled incorrectly and since corrected). These types of items are archival/object/library items that do not belong in the family files but should be inventoried and placed in the proper location in the Research Library. The Morton Area Chamber and Tourism Bureau shared out this information and I wanted to let the rest of Renville County know. If you plan on sharing anything with MNHS please include Renville County Historical Society and Museum so we can add it to the Research Library. I wish someone from each city would photograph the city every 5 years (Danube Fun Days this year, 'tag you are it' with your 125th City Celebration going on! Let's preserve today's history for our future generations. Landscapes of cities change rapidly. Township people, aerial shots of the farms would be nice to have in the Museum's collection, too. Yesterday's Farms of Today. Contact Nicole at the Museum 507-697-6147 if you have images to share.

From MNHS:
My name is Emilee, and I am a Digital Project Specialist for the Minnesota Historical Society. Our Digital Production and Programming team is working on an upcoming video installation entitled “What it Means to be Minnesotan.” The goal behind the video is to greet visitors at the History Center in St. Paul and introduce them to the various perspectives and communities that, together, weave the tapestry of what it means to call Minnesota home.

MNHS is hoping to include footage from various cities throughout the state, and I am reaching out to inquire about potential Morton videos we could include in our film. The What it Means to Be Minnesota exhibit will open at the end of June, and we would love to receive any potential videos of the city by the end of May, if possible.

MNHS is mainly looking for B-Roll footage, so any images or videos around Morton that showcase it, make it unique, or show it off would be great.

I am more than happy to answer any questions about the project or how potential footage would be included.

Thank you for your consideration,
