The Monmouth Museum is accepting submissions for Festival of Light, a juried exhibition celebrating the rich traditions, vibrant cultures, and contemporary voices of South Asian artists and the diaspora.

Artists are invited to submit original work inspired by themes of light, celebration, identity, heritage, and cultural connection. We welcome a wide range of artistic styles and mediums.

Exhibition Dates: October 2 through November 15, 2026

South Asian Artists Association of America (S4A) (.s4a) presents

ARTSPARK – The Monthly Art Challenge

We invite all artists, illustrators, doodlers, and creators of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, genders, and artistic abilities!

Each month, we'll unveil a new theme and invite artists from around the world to interpret it in their own unique style. Whether you create with watercolor, acrylic, pencil, ink, digital art, photography, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, or mixed media—everyone is welcome.

How to Participate

1️⃣ Create an original artwork inspired by the monthly theme.
2️⃣ Post it on Instagram.
3️⃣ Invite .s4a as a Collab on your post.
4️⃣ Use .

are invited to attend a FREE online Information Session.

This exhibition explores how Traditional and Contemporary Mithila (Madhubani) Painting continues to evolve through poetry, storytelling, folklore, mythology, and visual narratives.

💻 Virtual via Zoom

During this session, Co-Juror Nupur Nish*th will discuss:
• The curatorial vision and exhibition theme
• Expectations for submitted artwork
• Traditional and contemporary interpretations of Mithila art
• Selection criteria and process
• Questions from participating artists

This session is designed for artists interested in submitting work to the exhibition.

I am honored to serve as Juror and Co-Curator for Festival of Light: Contemporary South Asian & Diaspora Artists, a juried exhibition presented by Monmouth Museum at its Dunellen location this fall.

This exhibition celebrates the creativity, culture, stories, and diverse perspectives of South Asian and diaspora artists working today. Artists of all backgrounds are welcome to apply with work that thoughtfully connects to the exhibition theme.

MithilaVerse celebrates the evolving art of Mithila (Madhubani) painting, where centuries-old folk traditions meet contemporary imagination.

This exhibition welcomes emerging and established artists working in traditional or contemporary Mithila art. Artists are encouraged to create works inspired by poetry, storytelling, folklore, mythology, and visual narratives—transforming rhythm, metaphor, and narrative into vibrant lines, colors, and symbolic imagery.

Rooted in the cultural traditions of India and Nepal, Mithila painting continues to evolve globally while preserving its rich storytelling heritage.
