FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE — HONORING AN AMERICAN HERO

October 22, 1965 — A Sacrifice Never Forgotten

At just 18 years old, PFC Milton Lee Olive III made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Vietnam. When an enemy gr***de landed among his fellow soldiers, he courageously gave his own life to save four others.
For his extraordinary bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
His story reminds us that the freedoms we sometimes take for granted come at a tremendous cost. Every day, our military men and women face dangers, endure hardships, and spend precious time away from their families to serve and protect our nation.
Today, we honor PFC Olive and all who have worn our nation's uniform — those serving today, our veterans, and especially those who never made it home.

May we never forget their courage, their sacrifices, or the price of our freedom. God bless our military, our veterans, and their families.

October 21, 1973 — TWO Safeties, ONE Player, and a Record That Still Stands!

Talk about being in the right place at the right time — TWICE!

On this day in 1973, Los Angeles Rams defensive end Fred Dryer did something no other NFL player has ever matched in a single game — he recorded TWO safeties against the Green Bay Packers!

That's 4 points scored by one defensive player without ever crossing the goal line with the football!

More than 50 years later, Dryer's incredible feat remains an NFL record.
Who says you have to score a touchdown to make?

A Halloween classic with a wild backstory!

“Monster Mash” wasn’t supposed to be a hit — Bobby “Boris” Pickett recorded it in under an hour as a goofy Karloff-style parody. Four labels rejected it, the BBC banned it for being “too morbid,” and then one radio play sent it straight to the top of the charts. The graveyard smash became a real smash — re-charting three different times and cementing itself as a Halloween classic.

A Little History, A Lot of American Tradition

Millions of Schoolchildren Make History!
On this day, 12 million American schoolchildren made history together. Across the nation, classrooms joined in a special Columbus Day celebration by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance — though the words were a little different from the version we know today.

It became one of the largest synchronized patriotic moments in U.S. history, reminding us how traditions grow, evolve, and continue to unite generations.

Some childhood traditions stay with us forever!
