Poetry Out Loud is back this school year! Vermont schools and organizations are invited to get involved in this FREE arts education program and dynamic poetry recitation competition.

In partnership with The Flynn and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Vermont Arts Council is proud to support this program that has been inspiring students in Vermont classrooms for over 20 years. Arts education is essential to a thriving future, and Poetry Out Loud is one of many ways that the Council helps increase access to arts and culture for students across the state.

Thanks to Vermont Historical Society for welcoming the Vermont Arts & Culture Disaster and Resilience Network (VACDaRN) Steering Team for a great day together in Barre! We're proud to co-lead this statewide partnership alongside the Vermont State Archives and Records Administration. VACDaRN works to strengthen the resilience of Vermont's cultural sector through trainings, support, and direct assistance.

We are thrilled to share that we'll be hosting From Artist to Teaching Artist in partnership with The Vermont Arts Council, starting this October.

From Artist to Teaching Artist is a 3-part virtual program that introduces artists to the field of teaching artistry.

This is a unique learning opportunity for Vermont-based artists interesting in learning more about the field, and those at the beginning of their teaching artist career.

We will explore:
- The nuts and bolts of teaching artistry: how, where, and who teaching artists work with
- Teaching strategies and successful planning formats
- Marketing, communication, and partnerships

Sessions take place on Tuesdays, 5pm-7pm, on Zoom:
October 27th, November 3rd, November 10th

Creative Aging programs improve emotional wellbeing, support good health, strengthen social engagement, and bring purpose and joy to older adults. Want to bring these benefits to your senior center, library, or community arts organization? It's not too late to apply for a Creative Aging Grant!

Nonprofits, municipalities, and educational institutions can get up to $6,000 to support projects that offer skill-based instruction and social engagement through the arts for older adults.

We're seeking a Vermont-based graphic designer to create a set of visual assets for our annual mailed and digital appeal campaign. These materials will incorporate powerful statistics and data that tell a story of how the Council plays a vital role in Vermont, supporting the economy, artists, and community.

Applying is simple! Let us know you're interested by sending an email to [email protected]. Include your name, email address, a price quote (budget range $800-$1,500), and a link to a digital portfolio of 5-10 images representative of your work. Your website, social media page, or CreativeGround profile are all welcome as a portfolio. No submission fee and no need to create new work to apply. Deadline: Oct. 14, 2026.
