Throwback Thursday!

We are sharing a copy of a photo we received. This historic photo is dated 1930 and identifies Marshal Lewis Shaull of the Montpelier Police Department, sitting along side an unknown child. The picture also shows a Model A Ford, which is believed to be MPD's first police cruiser! How very cool!

Thanks to all who visited us this spring and summer! Our season has officially ended for the year, however, the museum is available to tour by appointment. Your memberships, gifts and donations help us preserve our Williams County History. We are so pleased that our 1850 Lett Log House was restored with a new wood shingle roof this year and featured during Ohio Open Doors in September. Your kind donations will help with its ongoing restoration. A special thank you to our trustees and all who give of their time and talents to our projects, events, etc. You are appreciated!

The Williams County Historical Society is participating in Ohio Open Doors on Sunday, September 13 from 1-4 pm by featuring the Lett Log House located on the Williams County Fairgrounds. Brought to you by the Ohio History Connection, Ohio Open Doors is a statewide event when local sponsors open their historic buildings and landmarks to the public for special tours and programs for free. Join us in honoring the history, design and stories of our historic place and see what life was like in an 1850’s Ohio Log House! Learn more about Ohio Open Doors at ohiohistory.org/ood.
Note: Admission to our event is free and will include admission to our museum and other buildings on our complex, however, you may have to pay a small fee to enter the Fairgrounds during the Williams County Fair.

Summer hours for The Williams County Historical Society Museum will be from 11-2 on Thursdays. Tours are also available by appointment.
Admission is $5 Adult, $1 Children 6 and up, and children under 6 are free. Come see us!
