After School Art Instructor (K-8)– Part-Time - T.W. Wood Museum, 46 Barre St., Montpelier.
The T.W. Wood Museum is seeking a caring, energetic, and creative After School Art Instructor to join our Youth Programs team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with elementary-aged children and fostering creativity in a fun, supportive environment. Monday–Friday, 2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. This position follows the Montpelier/Roxbury School District academic calendar, including school vacations, holidays, and snow days.
Responsibilities
Safely walk children from Union Elementary School to the T.W. Wood Museum.
Supervise children on the playground following school dismissal.
Assist and encourage children with age-appropriate art projects and creative activities.
Prepare and clean up art supplies and art rooms before and after each session.
Help prepare and serve snacks, and assist with snack clean-up.
Maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for all participants.
Communicate effectively with fellow staff and families as needed.
Occasional nights and weekends.
Qualifications
Experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, or educational setting.
Genuine love of working with young children.
Compassion, patience, and empathy, a positive attitude and a good sense of humor.
Reliable, responsible, and organized.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Requirements
Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting.
Ability to safely walk with children between Union Elementary School and the T.W. Wood Museum year round.
Ability to lift and carry art supplies and assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
