Good morning everyone, today is Saturday, June 13th. The Adam Room Museum will be open from 10 a.m. - (extended hours) The Montgomery EMA will be selling food in the parking lot (behind the museum) from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. So, we encourage you to enjoy a great meal, visit the museum AND stop in at the Dranktuary for a drink.

We were able to accomodate a special opening for a couple from Florida. Bob Barto and his lovely wife Patti visited and it was wonderful hearing his memories of Montgomery. I enjoyed it as much as I hope they did. We know during the summer time many out-of-towners will be in for reunions, weddings, family gatherings. If you cannot make it during our normal Saturday hours, let us know and we will make arrangements for you to visit at days/times that fit your schedule.

I am happy to have received two "memory" letters for my booklet idea. In 2037, it will be Montgomery Borough's 150th anniversary. It may seem a long-ways off....but its not. Would love to compile your memories for a booklet. If possible if you have pictures that would be great. Have received a 2 so far from residents, one their memory of the swimming at the "beach" and the grandstand. The other from the 1972 flood.

Good morning. We congratulate the 2026 MAHS graduating class. Embrace your dreams and enjoy your successes.

Today, I would also like to honor our military. 82 years ago, young men riding a boat (not for pleasure), prepared to land on Normandy. Known as "D-Day". A beginning to an end of WWII.

The Adam Room Museum will be opened today, Saturday, June 6th, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Located at 3 W. Houston Ave., below the Montgomery Area Public Library. We are a small museum, but packed full of memories. It is so enjoyable to welcome our visitors who share their memories growing up, going to school here. Many move on, but their roots are here. Which brings me to "pictures of today". I recently was going through a booklet entitled "Montgomery Area Bicentennial Celebration". This was a publication celebrating America's Bicentennial. I came past memories that people wrote. I would like to create the same. What are some of your memories growing up here in Montgomery Area? Write them down, submit them by email ([email protected]), drop off at the Adam Room Museum or the Montgomery Area Public Library. Lets keep your memories for future generations.

Good morning, the Adam Room Museum will be open today, Saturday May 30th, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Also would like to add we will be open Thursday, June 4th from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. We try to accommodate visitors from out-of-state who can't make it on our normal openings. Thursday is one of those days, we're happy to welcome past residents coming up from Florida.

Today's pictures are of the Montgomery Pool that was located where the Little League field is now located. I'm sharing to honor a lifelong community member. Marian (Harman) Bender, passed away at the age of 99 recently. A few years ago, she was a guest speaker at one of our programs. She spoke about growing up on Main Street, going swimming at the community pool and many other memories. Recently, her daughter Pam donated a few items to the museum, one being a swimsuit that her mom wore at this very pool. Proudly displayed on one of our dolls. The Historical Society sends our sympathies to Marian's daughters, Pam & Lori.

Today is a day to remember and honor those who died while serving our Country.
When I was in the marching band in the late 1970's, Memorial Day services were held at Fairview Cemetery. I stood beside this beautiful monument and never thought anything about it. To make a long story short....this monument began my involvement with the Montgomery Area Historical Society. This is the G.A.R. (Grand Army Republic) donated by the D.L. Montgomery Post 264, in 1892. In 1947 the "Keep 'em Flying Club" was disbanding and used their funds to have 2 bronze plaques engraved with the names of those who died while serving from the Spanish-American War, WWI & WWII. Some of those soldiers are buried at Fairview. Take a moment and visit....Say a prayer of thanks to those who serve.
