We had some adorable donations brought in today.
1. A babies wool bathrobe given to Ertis Larkin for the birth of his daughter Ida Mae Foster in 1928, by his friend Bob Kyle.
We also recieved a child's crocheted apron, that was hand crocheted by Vernetta McCallum. Both of these were donated by Ida Mae Foster.

We were recently asked about a rumor.
It said ....That Teddy Roosevelt came to Oregon and while he was here, he went elk hunting and stayed in a cabin on Williams Road in Alpine. According to old newspapers, we do know that Mr. Roosevelt was in Oregon around 1920 . Anybody else heard this rumor before?

We often have patrons come in looking for answers to such questions. Who built my home? Do we have early photos of the home or the people who lived in it?
So our question to you... Do you have early photos or history of homes or businesses in our local area? If so, stop by and share your story with us or send us a private message right here.

06/12/2019

As the Monroe High School Alumni Reunion approaches in 2 weeks, and you find yourself sorting through some old school memorabilia that your not sure what to do with.
Remember the museum, we are always looking for photos of the schools, old uniforms, and as well as old annuals.

Have you ever wondered what the Blue Stars on these markers along the highway represent? The Blue Star was a recognized icon during World War II. Families across the nation displayed a banner in the window of their homes and businesses with one Blue Star representing each son or daughter serving in the military. The National Garden Club Blue Star Memorial Marker Project began in 1946 and has now spread across the nation. Where are the Blue Star Memorial Markers in your state located?

This photo was taken at the 1986 Monroe High School Alumni Reunion, the gentlemen pictured are Sam Caruthers and James Lemon. But, what we want to know is... Where is the band uniform and drum that's on the wall behind the two men???? Anyone know?
Also pictured on the wall is the photograph with the band wearing these uniforms. The museum has the photo, but we would be interested in finding the uniform and drum.
