Just a reminder that the museum will be closed this afternoon while we have solar panels installed. We will reopen tomorrow and hope you can join us for the Monmouth-Roseville Hall of Achievement ceremony at 10 a.m.

On Saturday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Warren County History Museum four highly accomplished alumni will be inducted into the Monmouth-Roseville Hall of Achievement and one area citizen will receive the Distinguished Service Award. The inductees will also speak with students this morning, ride in the Homecoming parade, and be announced at halftime of the football game.

Dr. Jason Clark, Dr. Bradley Hennenfent (posthumously), George Hennenfent, and Dr. Ann (Kellogg) Lal have been named to the Hall of Achievement. Joy Boostrom will be honored with the Distinguished Service Award.

The Hall of Achievement Induction Ceremony is free and open to the public. All family, friends, former teachers, classmates and the general public are encouraged to attend. A brief reception, hosted by the Education Foundation will be held after the ceremony.

The Hall of Achievement recognition program was made possible through a donation to the Monmouth-Roseville Education Foundation by the Ralph Whiteman family in 1993 and is dedicated to the memory of his mother, Lucille Whiteman, who was once a one-room country school teacher.

The purpose of the Hall of Achievement is not only to recognize the accomplishments of the honorees, but also to honor the teachers and administrators whose dedication, motivation and inspiration helped make their success possible. The Distinguished Service Award honors individuals who provide exemplary service to the students of the district and community.

The Warren County History Museum will be closed on Friday, October 16. We are having solar panels installed, and the electricity will be off during the installation.

Our staff has had a blast with community projects this week! On Saturday, Pattee Executive Director Dr. Eugene Watkins and Museum Assistant William Watkins talked about Ancient Habitation in Warren County at Monmouth College’s Classics Day. Dr. Watkins said he spoke to so many people, he was hoarse!

On Wednesday night, Dr. Watkins portrayed William Chicken, a Civil War veteran, at the Cemetery Walk sponsored by the Buchanan Center for the Arts.

Mary Osborne and Tom Best have created their third Cemetery Walk, which is this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Municipal Cemetery in Monmouth. There will be 12 actors portraying people from the past. Several of our Warren County Historical Society members are participating as is Pattee Executive Director Dr. Eugene Watkins. This is always a fun event! If you would like to attend, please call the Buchanan Center for the Arts at (309) 734-3033. Tickets are $10 for BCA non-members and free for BCA members.

Visit the museum to enjoy “American Revolution Experience,” a traveling exhibit from the Battlefield Trust and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The exhibit will be on display in our lobby until October 9 and includes display panels and three interactive digital kiosks.

Monmouth College's Classics Day returns on Saturday, October 3, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. behind the Center for Science and Business. Classics Day is described as an "interactive and educational event that allows people of all ages to engage with ancient cultures."

Dr. Eugene Watkins, the Warren County History Museum's Pattee Executive Director, will be on hand to show artifacts from the early days of Warren County.

This a free event and open to the public.
