Well the season has come to an end. Yesterday October 12th was our last day and I think the timing went well. We were spoiled by the beautiful weather over the weekend but that also seems to be coming to an end. We want to thank everyone who visited us this season especially the local community that continues to support us on this crazy adventure. It was not on our road map in 2023 but we think it is the best fork in the road we have ever taken. We hope you all have a great winter and we will see you in the spring.

What a great start to a Saturday. Went to the Bear Belly to grab some breakfast burritos and had to stop and look out at the lake. The colors are exploding across the Keweenaw. If you have the time today head north and visit us at the mine, take a swing by Mt. Bohemia and catch a chairlift color ride or grab a to go lunch at the Bear Belly. There are not going to be many days like this left.

We are happy to share a recent letter we got from our friends at the Indiana Skunk Rescue. When we had to rehome Snickers and Oreo we felt blessed to have found the rescue. Laurie and I believed it was worthwhile to support them for all the help they provided. So this letter and the nice plaque they sent belongs to all of you as well that have helped support our efforts. Thank you from the both of us.

We had fun on Saturday meeting some new folks who just showed up for donuts and c***r. Since it seemed to be a success we will do it again this Saturday October 3rd and the final Saturday of the season October 10th. We will have it till we run out for the day. We hope you get a chance to stop by.

Fall is finally here and we hope everyone had a nice summer. As we engage in the season we have missed some of the traditions Laurie & I would typically enjoy. One of our favorites was a trip to the c***r mill for warm c***r and donuts. So with that in mind we want to invite you to stop by the mine this Saturday for free donuts and c***r (while they last). We open at 10 am and you don't need to take a tour to partake. Hope to see you Saturday.

2027 will mark the 50 year anniversary of Tom's vision for a mine tour that would help tell the story of the Keweenaw. We have been blessed to be able to step in and help craft the next chapter of this story.

As we look to next season we are making plans to celebrate this milestone and have many ideas we are tossing around. Over the last few years we have heard from many people ranging from elementary students to more seasoned individuals. They share their stories of previous visits or even their first time here. We enjoy seeing how this dream has affected all of you who are now part of the story.

We want to gather stories from visitors over the years that we can share with others. Everyone who visits seems to have a different story to tell and the idea of putting that in a display for others to see would be fun. In order to accomplish this we need to gather short stories (a paragraph or two) that tells your story. Any photos you have would also be great as we start to create this. Part of this content might be used on the website but the goal is to get printed panels to include in one of the buildings for people to read and explore next season.

As you may have heard MDOT is closing down US41 and putting a detour on M26 in order to get to Copper Harbor. The good news is this does not cause any problems if you are coming up to the mine. The road closure is scheduled from August 10th - 14th and happens well north of us by Lake Medora. After the first week they will have a traffic light allowing alternating one lane traffic for the remainder of the schedule. Read the full update: https://wix.to/61p6crg

ACE is our place

We just want to give a shout out to the team over at ACE Calumet. Over the last 3 years we have focused on buying local as much as possible and with the upkeep here at the mine you can bet that has been allot. We recently completed a face lift to the site that included a full repaint and matching of colors across the property. The team at ACE has been great in helping out with this and every other project we have been tackling.
