What a good weekend! First off I got to drive dad, 91, in the Waverly parade Saturday morning. He loved throwing out the treats the legion gave us. Then off to Missouri with Dustin, Kaley and the boys, beautiful weather for floating and fishing in the clear current river. Thanks Nana and Ed for being great hosts! And meanwhile back here at home, the Red Ride had a beautiful day for their ride and raising money to send packages to deployed troops. A guitar I donated brought $300, and another guitar had already raised $2000 for Honor Flight was redonated and brought another $250. Thanks to everyone who made all these amazing things happen this weekend. Another no news weekend enjoyed by all! 🇺🇸 the river was low, but this is just a side stream. Also the ride for Callum had a great fundraising day as well, another Homegrown was purchased by Bill Hays and helped raise money for this fine young man!

Hey folks, just sharing some news. My good friend Scott Gabriel joined in a couple of years building after seeing a few of mine. As some of you had seen he was battling cancer and keeping us updated on his condition. He finally had enough of being so sick with the chemo and just quit it. I went to his house a few months ago and he gave me several parts and a few cbg’s to finish building. I just spoke with his son, he passed on the 25th. He was actually ready because he had no life as we know it, but still to young. Prayers for his son Ian who has helped and lived with him along this journey. Cancer sux, it’s always sucked and it still just sucks. 🙁🙁. I have one of his builds I finished, trying to sell it and I will hand over the money. I’m asking $200.

Some things just really get you, this one does.

Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.

Pickin in the Backwoods Music Festival has got to be one of the most artist-friendly festivals we’ve ever had the privilege of playing. I’m not gonna lie, this month has beat us down pretty good. By the time this weekend rolled around, we were tired in every possible way and didn’t really want to go. But I’d worked my butt off to get us on this bill, so we packed up and went.

And man, are we glad we did. Our spirits are LIFTED, y’all. Sometimes you don’t realize how badly you needed to be reminded why you do this until somebody reminds you. The love, kindness and camaraderie we felt was exactly what our hearts needed. We came in worn down and left feeling like ourselves again.

From our super cool cabin, to an artist lounge full of great food, fantastic music, top-notch sound and four-wheeler shuttles making sure we barely had to walk a few feet, every detail made the artists feel genuinely cared for.

Justin and Andrea, thank you for creating something so special. You didn’t just put on a great festival. You created a place where musicians felt valued, welcomed and taken care of. We needed this more than you knew, and we absolutely cannot wait to come back.

I still can’t post Reels over here ( Algorithm Outlaws ™️) , but believe me, I’ve got one coming as soon as they let me back in the building. 😂
