John L. LeFlore was a significant figure in Mobile County history. The film "A Quiet Revolution: The John L LeFlore Story," produced in 1996, tells the story of this Mobile icon. A Civil Rights leader and Executive Secretary for the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), LeFlore organized the Non-Partisan Voters League to continue the work of the of the NAACP. Among his many accomplishments, he was a key player in the desegregation of the public schools.
