Moab Museum of Film and Western Heritage

Moab Museum of Film and Western Heritage Celebrating the spirit of Western cultural heritage as showcased by films from southeastern Utah

One of the most acclaimed directors in American film, John Ford etched the landscape of the Moab to Monument Valley region into the hearts of moviegoers with famous Westerns such as Stagecoach, My Darling Clementine, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Wagon Master and The Searchers. After giving John Wayne his "big break" in Stagecoach, John Ford brought John Wayne and other stars to Red Cliffs Ranch (formerly White Ranch) to film Rio Grande (1950) and Cheyenne Autumn (1963). Thanks to ranch owner and movie commission founder George White, over half a dozen films were made at Red Cliffs Ranch, where the Moab Museum of Film and Western Heritage was founded in 2002. John Ford, John Wayne, George White, Harry Goulding, and many others paved the way for nearly 200 films to be made in the Moab to Monument Valley region since 1925. Take a ride through American film history with legends of the Southwest's silver screen.
