The UVAL Black and White Art Exhibit shall adhere to monochrome, allowing only black, white, and shades of gray. Participating artists must be current members of UVAL with paid membership dues. Submissions must be original, professionally finished, and ready to hang with secure wire or be displayed appropriately on a pedestal or easel.
Key Guidelines:
• Color Palette Restrictions: The work must be strictly black and white and/or grayscale; no color splashes or color on the actual art.
• Medium & Content: All visual media (photography, painting, drawing, ceramics, fiber arts, mixed media, etc.) is accepted, provided it adheres to the monochrome theme.
• Preparation & Framing: Mats/Frames: Generally, mats and frames should be black, white, or gray as to not distract from the art; colored mats and frames are permissible only if it enhances the art and meets with the approval of the curator/s.
• Display: All artwork must be gallery-ready to hang and/or display in a professional manner.
Thank you.
