MAM has been invited to participate in the Wright County Historical Society’s Festival of Trees! This annual event turns WCHS into a winter wonderland with the largest indoor display of decorated trees in Minnesota. Every year has a different theme and this year they are celebrating local history organizations.

We want to highlight the awesome work that museum professionals do so send us a small item to help fill the tree! This can be an ornament, postcard, or anything else that represents your organization and can easily be hung on a tree. Make sure to send your item by November 18th to ensure it makes it on the non-denominational tree! Doors open to the public December 1st. As the Minnesota Association of Museums begins to plan for the future, we are looking to realign the organization with the needs of the Minnesota museum community and professionals. We ask that you fill out this short google survey to help guide organizational planning.

Hello MAM Members! The Science Museum of Minnesota is hosting two special Omnitheater events and has set aside 10 free tickets for each event. Tickets are valid for the movie & program portion of the exhibit and does not include admission to the museum. These tickets are first come first serve! NOW ON VIEW: Weisman Art Museum presents a new public art installation, Just Yesterday. The 60-foot wraparound mural is on prominent display along the exterior façade of the museum at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

Just Yesterday was conceived by interning art director Mike Gaines and first-year copywriter Maggie Williams, as part of an initiative by Minneapolis advertising agency Solve, during the protests that swept the world in 2020. The series uses iconic pop culture references to put systemic injustices from our recent past into context — injustices that continue to oppress communities of color to this day.
